How to treat termites

How to treat termites

The damage caused by termites to people is staggering. These losses are mainly manifested in crops, trees, houses, river embankments, etc. It can also corrode silver. If it appears in the home, people may be bitten by termites accidentally. So how should we prevent and control termites? Today I will tell you how to treat termites.

1. Where do termites come from?

The main termites that harm houses are Coptotermes house termites. Generally, newly built houses are not infested by termites. Termites enter houses and build nests mainly by building paths in the soil and crawling into the house, and by winged reproductive ants flying in and building nests. The survival, reproduction and continuation of the species of termites are accomplished by reproductive ants (winged adults).

April to June every year is the breeding season for termites. Thousands of winged reproductive ants migrate out from the original ant nests. After shed their wings, the male and female adults form mates. Once they find a suitable place, they will survive and create a new colony. This is the beginning of a new generation of termites.

2. How to prevent and control termites?

There are two main aspects of termite control: one is the extermination of termites, which is mainly a means of extermination taken after buildings are infested by termites. The second is to adopt a method to prevent termite invasion and damage, which is mostly used for prevention in newly built houses.

【Termite control】

(1) When you discover an ant infestation, try to find the ant nest or ant trail. First, spray the ant-killing powder on the termites in the ant nest or ant trail as much as possible, so that they can infect each other with toxins and achieve the killing effect.

(ii) In places where termites are found, holes are drilled at certain distances in wooden door and window frames and filled with powder. At the same time, the surrounding soil is sprayed with powder so that both the wood and the soil contain a certain amount of toxins. Termites that come into contact with the toxins or feed on them will be poisoned and die.

(iii) Trapping and killing method: Since pesticide spraying can easily cause soil pollution and damage, biological control methods are used to intercept and kill termites in developed countries and regions such as Europe and the United States.

According to the information, termite control traps are installed by burying them around the building and adding inducers. The role of the inducers is to react with the soil to generate wood corrosive odors and carbon dioxide odors that imitate the nest. Studies have shown that these ingredients are the favorite odors of termites. The surrounding termites will find the artificial underground ant station at the first time and will eat the wooden strips of the ant station. Once the wooden strips in the ant station are found to be eaten, the construction workers will put bait in the termite control traps.

The formula of the bait is added with insect growth regulators and destroys the digestive system of termites. After eating the bait, termites will lose the ability to synthesize chitin. The eggs laid by the "queen ant" after eating the bait cannot become adults. The outer skin of termites after eating the bait becomes thin and brittle, and they die because they cannot withstand the pressure of molting. Thereby, the entire nest of termites can be killed safely and thoroughly.

The above three methods of ant killing can be used individually or in combination. There are also fumigation methods, such as the hot air killing method used in foreign countries, which have also achieved good results to a certain extent. There are many ways to kill termites, but the specific method of killing termites depends mainly on the specific environment and surrounding conditions where the termites occur.
