Glasses optometry process

If you feel that you cannot see things clearly, you may be nearsighted and need to go to the hospital or a professional eyewear store for a detailed examination. Once it is confirmed that you are nearsighted, you need to wear glasses to correct your vision and prevent vision loss. In the process of fitting glasses, you need to have an eye test to understand the specific condition of your eyes. People who are getting glasses for the first time may not understand this very well, so the standard process of eye examination will be introduced in detail below.

1. Medical consultation

The length of time the old glasses were worn, the history of fitting glasses, type, refractive power, corrected visual acuity, years of use, usage status, satisfaction level, and whether there are any eye diseases.

1. Purpose

Get a preliminary understanding of the customer's refractive status.

Let the customer maintain a comfortable and natural posture and ask the customer to relax.

The optometrist checks the right side first and then the left side with gentle movements.

Aim at the eye to be measured, adjust the image to be clear and record it, measure one eye three times, and then measure the other eye in the same way and print it.

3. Naked eye vision test and corrected vision test with old glasses

1. Purpose of naked eye vision test

Let the customer get familiar with the eye chart and check the dominant eye (do not look at the sight mark for too long, and the eye patch should not touch the customer's skin and should be placed in front of the eyes.

2. Correction of old glasses and balance test

By understanding the corrected vision of the customer's old glasses, we can determine the customer's expectations for corrected vision; check the strength balance of the old glasses (the old glasses start from the 0.6 sight mark.

From large sight marks to small sight marks, the judgment time for each sight mark is controlled at about 3 seconds, and the accuracy rate exceeds 75% to be considered passed.

4. Measurement of pupil distance

5. Adjustment of the comprehensive ophthalmometer

1. Turn on the power: Connect the power supply and turn on the switch.

2. Zero the test piece: return the spherical mirror and cylindrical mirror to zero, and return the axial direction to 90° or 180°.

3. Adjust the height: Let the examinee sit on the examination chair, adjust the height of the lifting chair or the ophthalmometer to make the examinee sit comfortably and the eye height equal to the height of the projected sight mark.

4. Adjust the vertical balance (i.e. level): Place the subject’s forehead close to the forehead rest, adjust the level adjustment knob of the ophthalmometer so that the bubble is centered and the ophthalmometer head remains level.

5. Adjust the optical center distance (i.e., pupil distance): Adjust the pupil distance knob to set the measured pupil distance so that the subject's eyes are located in the center of the viewing aperture.

6. Adjust the distance between the lens and eye: adjust the forehead support knob and observe the window at 20cm so that the corneal vertex is tangent to the longest line.

6. Far-sightedness

1. Place 0.3 visual mark

Myopia decreases synchronously in steps of -0.25D, and hyperopia increases synchronously in steps of 0.25D.

2. Synchronously change the brightness of the spherical mirrors on both sides of the viewing hole in a gradient of 0.25D until the 0.3 sight mark becomes blurred.

This examination is particularly important for teenagers with hyperopic refractive errors or unstable myopia accommodation.

VII. Subjective Examination

2. Prism separation: Place a spot sight mark or the upper row sight mark of the best visual acuity, and rotate the rotating prism.

3. Both eyes are defogged simultaneously.

9. Red and green test for myopia: red plus green minus, hyperopia the opposite

1. Place the red and green sight marks in front of both eyes again, observing in the order of green first, then red, and then green.

2. Compare the clarity of the sight marks under the red and green backgrounds. If they are the same, it means that the spherical lens correction is just right. No adjustment is required, and you can go directly to the next step. If they are not clear, the spherical lens needs to be further adjusted to make the red and green sight marks equally clear.

10. Try on

1. According to the actual use environment, pay attention to observe the customer's reaction: the degree of satisfaction with vision in the actual use environment should be greater than or equal to the old glasses. When reducing the degree, explain in detail the customer's comfort with this vision.

2. According to the customer's actual feelings, there is a difference between the trial frame and the actual glasses frame. If the customer has no discomfort, the optometrist should not actively lower the degree.

11. Record the final result and determine the final brightness based on actual usage and the brightness of the old lens.

Comprehensively consider the customer's purpose of wearing glasses, vision expectations, glasses wearing history, pupil distance, best correction degree, best corrected vision and other factors, make corresponding adjustments based on the best correction degree, and then finally decide on the degree.
