Left ear pain accompanied by left nerve pain

When we have ear pain accompanied by nerve pain, it is likely caused by otitis media. Many factors can lead to the occurrence of otitis media. After becoming ill, patients need to receive timely medication. So, what drugs can we use for treatment? In order to help everyone recover faster, today we will introduce the Chinese and Western medicine treatments for otitis media.

Otitis media is an inflammatory disease involving all or part of the structure of the middle ear (including the Eustachian tube, tympanic cavity, tympanic sinus and mastoid air cells). Most of them are nonspecific inflammations, especially common in children. It can be divided into two categories: non-purulent and purulent. Non-suppurative ones include secretory otitis media and barotraumatic otitis media; suppurative ones are divided into acute and chronic ones. Specific inflammation is rare, such as tuberculous otitis media. Common types of otitis media include secretory otitis media, acute suppurative otitis media, cholesteatoma otitis media and barotraumatic otitis media.

Western medicine treatment of otitis media

1. Actively treat focal diseases of the upper respiratory tract, such as chronic sinusitis and chronic tonsillitis.

2. Drug treatment: The simple type is mainly treated with local medication: antibiotic aqueous solution or a mixture of antibiotics and steroid hormones, such as 0.25% chloramphenicol solution, chloramphenicol cortisone solution, ofloxacin ear drops, and Congcong ear drops can be used to treat otitis media and otitis externa, prevent recurrence and achieve a cure.

3. Precautions for topical medication:

① Before using the medicine, clean the pus in the external auditory canal and middle ear cavity. You can use 3% hydrogen peroxide or boric acid water for cleaning, then wipe it clean with a cotton swab or use an aspirator to suck out the pus before dripping the medicine.

② When the amount of pus is large, use water; when the amount is small, use boric acid alcohol.

4. Ear drop method: The patient sits or lies down with the affected ear facing upwards. Gently pull the auricle backward and upward, and drip 3 to 4 drops of medicine into the external auditory canal. Then press the tragus lightly with your fingers several times to encourage the medicine to flow into the middle ear through the perforation of the eardrum. You can change your position after a few minutes. Note that the ear drops should be as close to body temperature as possible to avoid causing dizziness.

5. Large perforation of the eardrum affects hearing. Tympanoplasty or tympanoplasty can be performed about 2 months after dry ear.

6. For bone ulcer type otitis media with unobstructed drainage, local medication is the main treatment, but regular check-ups should be noted. Patients with poor drainage or suspected complications, as well as cholesteatoma otitis media, should undergo modified radical mastoidectomy or radical mastoidectomy as soon as possible to completely remove the lesions and prevent complications.
