What folk remedies are useful for treating watermelon seeds stuck in the throat

Watermelon seeds are actually a very small food and the surface of watermelon seeds is relatively smooth. Generally speaking, the chance of watermelon seeds getting stuck in the throat is relatively small. However, many children are prone to foreign objects getting stuck in their throats, so when a child encounters a watermelon seed stuck in his throat, it is important to deal with it in a timely manner to avoid injuring the throat or other mucous membranes. So what folk remedies are effective when watermelon seeds get stuck in the throat?

1. Stuck in the throat

Children are most likely to be choked by foreign objects between the ages of 1 and 3, and the objects they swallow are varied, such as coins, thumb tacks, buttons, pen caps, erasers, small toy parts, broad beans, grapes, etc. Doctors are most afraid of children swallowing soft foods, and the most dangerous one is jelly. Because children's swallowing is not fully developed, if it blocks the trachea, the person will die in a few minutes. Even if the jelly stays in the esophagus, it is slippery and soft and cannot be taken out with pliers like a coin; if you use a negative pressure aspirator to suck out the soft object, it is easy to cause blockage.

2. Heimlich maneuver

By impacting the abdomen - the soft tissue under the diaphragm, the sudden impact creates upward pressure, compressing the lower part of the two lungs, thereby driving the remaining air in the lungs to form an airflow. This impactful and directional airflow that goes straight into the trachea can expel foreign objects such as food lumps that block the trachea and throat, saving the person.

3. Others

The rescuer stands behind the patient, wraps his arms around the patient's waist, then makes a fist with one hand and places the thumb side of the fist on the patient's abdomen above the umbilicus below the thorax. Use your other hand to make a fist and strike upward quickly to compress the patient's abdomen. Repeat the above steps until the foreign body is expelled. In emergency situations, doctors often pat the patient's back or insert their fingers into the mouth and throat to remove foreign objects. This is not only ineffective, but it may cause the foreign objects to go deeper into the respiratory tract.
