Symptoms of spinal tumor compressing nerves

Symptoms of spinal tumor compressing nerves

Because our spine plays an important supporting role, our spine is also related to our nerves. However, if our spine is seriously injured, it is likely to compress the nerves. In particular, some patients may have spinal tumors, which will not only cause back pain but also hinder movement. So what are the symptoms of spinal tumors compressing the nerves?

What are the symptoms of spinal nerve compression?

In our real life, many people often suffer from nerve compression due to spinal diseases. What are the symptoms when the spine compresses the nerves?

1. Central protrusion type

This type of disease does not cause symptoms of cervical spinal nerve root compression. Instead, there are varying degrees of motor or sensory disturbances at or below the spinal cord compression stage. In severe cases, the patient may be paralyzed and bedridden.

2. Paracentral protrusion

In addition to the symptoms and signs of lateral protrusion, there may be varying degrees of unilateral spinal cord compression symptoms, manifested as ipsilateral movement disorders and contralateral sensory disorders.

3. Lateral protrusion

If the roots of the cervical spinal nerves are irritated or compressed, numbness may occur in mild cases, while severe pain may occur in the area innervated by the affected nerves, which may intensify the cough. In addition, there may be symptoms such as general torticollis, muscle spasms and limited neck movement.

What to do if the spinal cord is compressed

Spinal disease is a common disease nowadays and it is also a disease that urban people are more likely to suffer from. After the disease occurs, the patient will show many dangers. Spinal diseases have many different symptoms due to different compression locations or different directions of spinal changes. Among them, spinal disease compressing nerves is the most common and harmful. Therefore, when such situations occur, active treatment is required. Conservative treatment is no longer available and treatment requires minimally invasive surgery.

1. After spinal disease compresses the nerves, the symptoms have become very serious, and conservative treatment can no longer effectively treat the patient's symptoms. However, conservative treatment can assist other treatment methods for detailed treatment, which can speed up the patient's recovery time and avoid recurrence of the disease.

2. When spinal disease compresses the nerves, patients can choose the internationally popular minimally invasive surgery for treatment. Minimally invasive surgery has the safety of conservative treatment and the effectiveness of surgical treatment, but it is the most popular method because it is relatively cheap, effective quickly, and not prone to recurrence, and has always been loved by patients.

3. If minimally invasive surgery cannot effectively treat the symptoms of spinal disease compressing the nerves, then surgical methods will be needed for treatment. Surgical treatment is generally not recommended because this method requires the patient's symptoms and physical conditions to be relatively strict, and it is relatively expensive and causes greater harm. However, it needs to be used when the above methods are not effective.
