What is bisphenol A epoxy resin?

The highly developed productivity in modern life enables people to produce various new materials and tools, which are of great help to people's lives. However, most materials are used in the field of industrial manufacturing, and people cannot intuitively understand the properties of these things. For example, bisphenol A epoxy resin is a commonly used industrial material, but what is bisphenol A epoxy resin?

Epoxy resins are resin compounds that contain at least two reactive epoxy groups in their molecules. After curing, epoxy resin has many outstanding excellent properties, such as strong adhesion to various materials, especially metals, strong chemical corrosion resistance, high mechanical strength, good electrical insulation, and corrosion resistance. In addition, epoxy resins can be cured over a fairly wide temperature range and have little volume shrinkage during curing. Bisphenol A epoxy resin is a polymer compound prepared by condensing bisphenol A and epichlorohydrin under alkaline conditions, followed by water washing and solvent removal. Because epoxy resin products have good physical and mechanical properties, chemical resistance, and electrical insulation properties, they are widely used in coatings, adhesives, fiberglass, laminates, electronic casting, potting, encapsulation and other fields.

use:

Several forms of bisphenol A epoxy resin are commonly used in the field of corrosion protection:

◆Epoxy coatings.

◆Epoxy fiberglass.

◆Epoxy resin mastic and mortar.

◆Epoxy resin integral floor.

◆Epoxy-phenolic and epoxy-furan resin composite FRP.

Synthesis principle: Bisphenol A epoxy resin is synthesized by the condensation of bisphenol A and epichlorohydrin in the presence of an alkaline catalyst (usually NaOH).

Synthesis method:

(1) There are two general methods for synthesizing liquid bisphenol A epoxy resin: a one-step method and a two-step method. The one-step method can be divided into the single alkali addition method and the double alkali addition method. The two-step method can be further divided into intermittent method and continuous method.

(2) The synthesis methods of solid bisphenol A epoxy resin can generally be divided into two types: one-step method and two-step method. The one-step method can be further divided into water washing method, solvent extraction method and solvent method. The two-step method can be divided into bulk polymerization and catalytic polymerization.
