How to Eat Fresh Bergamot

Eat raw

Bergamot is a fresh fruit plant. When it is ripe, the skin turns yellow and the inside turns white, so it can be eaten directly like citrus. The general way to eat it is to peel off the outer skin and take out the white meat inside. Bergamot tastes very sweet when eaten raw and has a very crisp bite.

Stew with rock sugar

After washing the fresh bergamot, do not peel off the outer skin. Instead, cut it into small pieces or shred it. Put an appropriate amount of water in the pot, add two handfuls of rock sugar, put the bergamot in, and stew it for about ten hours. After stewing, you will find that the color of the bergamot turns transparent and very translucent, and the whole pot of sugar water looks as sticky as honey. After it cools down, you can seal it and put it in the refrigerator. When needed, take a small amount and mix it with hot or cold water for drinking.

Bergamot stewed with rock sugar has the effect of beautifying the skin and can also moisten the lungs and relieve coughs. It is an excellent product for those who stay up late.

Eat with honey

Select fresh bergamots of uniform size, wash them and cut them into slices a few millimeters thick, then place them in low sunlight to dry when there is sufficient sunlight. After drying, remove the dust on the surface, cut the dried bergamot into small strips with scissors, put them in a transparent glass bottle, then fill the glass bottle with honey and seal it. Honey bergamot does not need to be refrigerated, just put it in a cool place. It usually takes half a year for the honey bergamot to be soaked. Honey bergamot can be taken out and eaten directly, or it can be poured out with honey and brewed with a small amount of hot water.

The effect of soaking bergamot in honey is similar to that of stewing it with rock sugar. It can also clear away heat, detoxify, clear the heart and reduce fire.
