How to read the results of the two-pair-and-a-half test

In life, many people suffer from hepatitis B due to various reasons. When they are diagnosed with hepatitis B, they will undergo a hepatitis B two-pair-and-a-half test, which is the hepatitis B five items often mentioned in daily life. In the two-pair-and-a-half test results of hepatitis B, many patients' test results will show all negative. When many patients see such test results, many do not understand what these mean.

How to read the results of the two-pair-and-a-half test

1. Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) :

If this indicator shows +, it means that you have been infected or are being infected with hepatitis B virus. Patients in the latent stage, acute stage, chronic hepatitis, post-hepatitis cirrhosis or concomitant primary liver cancer after hepatitis B virus infection and HBsAg carriers are likely to show + on this indicator.

2. Hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs) :

If the hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs) shows +, it means that you are infected with the hepatitis B virus or have been injected with the hepatitis B vaccine and have produced hepatitis B surface antibodies (anti-HBs). If the number of antibodies reaches a certain level (at least greater than 10 IU/ml), it means that you are immune to the hepatitis B virus and will not be infected again in the future.

3. Hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) :

If the hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) shows +, it means that the hepatitis B virus is in a very active replication state and is highly contagious.

4. Hepatitis B e antibody (anti-HBe) :

If this indicator shows +, there are two different situations. Situation 1: The hepatitis B virus in the body has weakened, its replication ability has gradually decreased, and its infectious ability has also gradually decreased. Situation 2: The hepatitis B virus in the body has mutated. Even if the hepatitis B e antibody (anti-HBe) is positive, the mutated hepatitis B virus is still in an active replication state.

What is normal for a two-pair-and-a-half examination?

1. Hepatitis B two pairs of half negative

A completely negative result of two pairs of hepatitis B test indicates that the human body has never been infected with the hepatitis B virus and there is no hepatitis B virus antibody in the body. Although this result indicates good health, this group of people are susceptible to hepatitis B virus and need to be immediately injected with hepatitis B vaccine to prevent infection. Infants should complete the vaccination according to the 0, 1, 6 schedule, and adults can complete the vaccination according to the 0, 1, 6 schedule or the 1, 2, 3 schedule until protective antibodies, namely hepatitis B surface antigen, appear in the body, and its titer needs to be greater than 10U/L. If the amount of hepatitis B surface antigen in the body is less than 10 U/L, it means that the hepatitis B surface antibody is weakly positive and the protection is weak, and a hepatitis B vaccine booster shot is needed.

2. Item 2 is positive, and the rest are negative

This situation is a common result when people who have been vaccinated against hepatitis B test the hepatitis B two-to-one ratio. It means that the human body has produced antibodies and will no longer be infected with the hepatitis B virus and develop hepatitis B.

3. Item 5 is positive, and the rest are negative

This test result is also normal. It means that the body has been infected with the hepatitis B virus, but it has been completely eliminated by the human immune system and corresponding antibodies have been produced. This group of people are in good health and will not transmit the hepatitis B virus.
