Can sit and forward bend help you grow taller

Sit-and-reach exercise is a stretching exercise that is commonly seen in physical tests. It is also a common physical test item. Seated forward flexion mainly achieves body stretching through joint movements. Many people are concerned about the issue of height, and as a precaution, this also includes ligament sprains. Exercise can make people taller, so can sit-and-reach exercises also make people taller?

1. Seated forward bend

Sit-and-reach test is a physical fitness test item for universities, colleges and primary and secondary schools. Its purpose is to measure the possible range of motion of the trunk, waist, hip and other joints in a static state. It mainly reflects the stretchability and elasticity of the joints, ligaments and muscles in these parts, as well as the level of development of the body's flexibility. Stretching the ligaments, muscles, and joints of the waist and abdomen can also nourish the kidneys according to traditional Chinese medicine theory. There is an old saying that if the tendons grow an inch longer, you will live three years longer. Stretching the thigh muscles is naturally good.

2. The height growth of the sit-and-reach position is not accurate

A person's height is mainly related to family genetic factors, and it also has a lot to do with acquired nutritional conditions. Some training can also be helpful. Simply doing the movement you mentioned will not help your height much. If you want to improve your height through exercise, you can consider comprehensive training instead of relying on just one movement.

3. Sit-and-reach training

Sit-and-reach exercise is an exercise that tests flexibility (mainly the hip and knee extensor muscles). The stretching method we generally use is static stretching, supplemented by other methods. The characteristics of so-called static stretching are "quiet", "slow" and "gradually increasing amplitude"; it cannot be "shaken" or "suddenly exerted" like the ballistic stretching in the warm-up activities of physical education classes, which will only repeatedly cause muscle stretch reflex. Static stretching, on the other hand, is done by stretching the muscles and maintaining them at their maximum extent, so that the muscle's proprioceptors feel the stimulation, activating the self-protection mechanism and causing the muscles to relax.
