What are the treatment methods for acupuncture dizziness

Nowadays, more and more people are willing to accept the method of acupuncture to treat diseases, but many patients will experience needle phobia during acupuncture treatment. Needle phobia is also a common reaction during acupuncture treatment. When patients experience needle phobia, their symptoms are also different, including nausea and vomiting, dizziness when seeing acupuncture, pale face, cold sweats, and panic. When needle phobia occurs, be sure to comfort the patient first and stop giving the needle.

Prevention and treatment of needle sickness:

1. Psychological prevention:

It is mainly aimed at those who are suspicious and fearful, or those who cry, laugh, scream, tremble, avoid, or have muscle spasms during acupuncture, accompanied by changes in the autonomic nervous system and endocrine functions such as pupils, blood pressure, breathing, heartbeat, skin temperature, complexion, and sweating. Psychological precautions can be taken in advance to avoid adverse reactions such as needle phobia. There are three methods:

1. Language induction:

Before inserting the needle, patiently explain to the patient the specific method of acupuncture, and explain the possible feeling, degree and conduction pathway of the acupuncture, so as to gain the patient's trust and cooperation.

(ii) Relaxation training:

For patients who are quiet, depressed, easy to concentrate and introverted, ask them to stare at an object. Only after they have completely entered a state of self-meditation (quietness) can the needle be inserted.

3. Divert attention:

For patients who are impatient, hyperactive, inattentive, and extroverted, they can be asked to do some simple and quick mental arithmetic, or asked some small questions, using their visual, auditory functions and thinking activities to divert their attention and promote local tissue relaxation. Someone used this method to conduct a comparative observation on 420 patients and found that it was effective in preventing needle phobia and other adverse reactions.

2. Physiological prevention:

Hungry patients should eat something before acupuncture; those who are overly tired should be allowed to rest until their physical strength is basically restored. Especially for those who have a history of needle phobia or those who are undergoing acupuncture for the first time, it is best to adopt the side-lying position, simplify the acupoints, and reduce the amount of stimulation.

Common causes of needle sickness

1. Physical reasons

One of the main causes. Clinically, it is common for people with weak constitution, hunger, and fatigue to suffer from needle fainting. In addition, acupuncture after drinking alcohol can easily cause needle dizziness; the second most common cause is people with allergic constitutions or unstable vascular and nervous functions. Many people who suffer from needle phobia for no apparent reason can often find the cause in their physical constitution.

2. Psychological reasons

It is also the main reason. It is more common among first-time acupuncture users, who may experience fear, fear of pain, and nervousness due to lack of experience. Among them, patients with melancholic personality are most likely to suffer from needle phobia. This may be because the melancholic personality is introverted and emotionally repressed, and is easily excited and inhibited when encountering stimuli, which makes it easy for the autonomic nervous system to become disordered.

It is more common in patients who receive acupuncture treatment for the first time. Others may also be caused by mental stress, physical weakness, overwork, hunger, fasting, after sweating, after diarrhea, after heavy bleeding, etc. Other causes include improper patient positioning, heavy-handedness of the practitioner, or the air in the treatment room being too hot or too cold.
