Can wild ginger be eaten? What are its effects and functions?

Wild ginger has many uses. Its main effect is to treat indigestion and prevent abdominal pain and diarrhea. Wild ginger is also called Huangjing, and its uses are as follows :

1. It can be used as medicine. It is an aromatic stomachic medicine for treating indigestion, abdominal pain and vomiting. Modern medical research has proved that Polygonatum sibiricum contains niacin, mucoquinones, organic acids, digitalis glycosides, various anthraquinone compounds and saponins, which can increase coronary blood flow and excite the myocardium. 2. In addition, Polygonatum sibiricum has a strong inhibitory effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis and various fungi. 3. Polygonatum odoratum is sweet in taste and neutral in nature, and is a kind of tonic medicine. It has the functions of strengthening the spleen, nourishing the kidneys, moistening the lungs, and promoting the production of body fluids. It is often used clinically to treat spleen and stomach weakness, lung deficiency cough, and lack of essence and blood after illness.

4. Polygonatum sibiricum is often used in combination with other medicines. For example, when treating loss of appetite, sallow complexion, mental fatigue, and shortness of breath caused by weak spleen and stomach, it is often used in combination with ginseng, white atractylodes, yam, and cornus officinalis.

5. In the treatment of dizziness, premature graying of hair, and weakness of waist and knees caused by liver and kidney yin deficiency, it is often used in combination with wolfberry, angelica, rehmannia, Ligustrum lucidum, Polygonum multiflorum, chrysanthemum and other drugs. When treating lung deficiency cough, hemoptysis, and cough with little sputum, it is often used in combination with drugs such as Bletilla striata, Stemona japonica, Ophiopogon japonicus, and Adenophora Root. It can be used together with astragalus, yam, and trichosanthes to treat diabetes.
