Can I drink alcohol after getting rabies vaccine

After getting the rabies vaccine, there are actually some dietary considerations. Generally speaking, you cannot drink alcohol during the injection period. Some spicy and irritating foods, such as peppers and seafood, are not suitable for consumption during the vaccination period because it will affect the immune effect. In order to ensure the success of the injection, you can go to the hospital 15 days after the vaccination to check whether antibodies have been produced.

1. You cannot drink alcohol during the rabies vaccination period. This is because tobacco, alcohol, and certain irritating foods such as chili, garlic, ginger, coffee, seafood, strong tea, etc. are all irritating or sensitizing substances that can stimulate or interfere with the normal immune response of the human body after vaccination, and may interfere with the production of antibodies and affect the immune effect. Alcohol and other substances may also accelerate the speed of rabies virus nerve migration and shorten the incubation period, so you should not drink alcohol.

2. However, you drank alcohol between the 3rd and 4th injections. Through the first 3 injections, there are certain antibodies in the body, and the last two injections are booster injections, so drinking at this time will have less impact on the immune effect than the first 3 injections.

3. In addition, be careful not to use corticosteroids (prednisone, flumethasone, etc.) and immunosuppressants. Because these drugs can interfere with the production of antibodies after vaccination.

4. To ensure the immunization effect, go to the hospital on an empty stomach and draw 2 ml of blood on the 15th day after the full course of rabies vaccination to test whether antibodies have been produced. If the blood test result is positive, it means that antibodies have been produced, indicating that the vaccination is effective. If antibodies are not produced, two more shots of the vaccine will be given and blood will be tested again until antibodies are produced.

5. Please go to the CDC to test the antibodies fifteen days after the fifth vaccination. Generally, the result will be positive (if the antibodies are weakly positive, you can take remedial measures and get a booster shot to achieve the same immune effect).
