What is the psychology behind the mother-in-law's fight to take care of the child

The relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law can be said to be a difficult problem to solve since ancient times, especially when it comes to raising children, which has caused many conflicts between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. Some daughters-in-law will find that the mother-in-law always rushes to take care of the children, and sometimes it has reached the point of monopolizing the situation. So how do you understand this mentality and behavior of the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law rushing to take care of the children? Let’s take a look at it together below.

1. Differences in educational concepts between young people and the elderly

There is already a generation gap between the old and the young. Moreover, the living environment of that generation is completely different from that of today. At the same time, the old tend to spoil their children. For example, young people hope that their children can be independent and let their children learn to eat by themselves. However, the elderly think that children are still young and should be fed, which will cause conflicts. The mother of a friend of mine is helping them take care of their child. The daughter-in-law forbids the child to drink beverages, but the mother-in-law thinks it is too pitiful that the child is not allowed to drink beverages. When her daughter-in-law went to work, she secretly let the child drink it.

2. Elderly people tend to spoil children

There is a Chinese saying that goes, grandparents are close to each other. Because I got married early and had children early, I had just become independent and had not enjoyed independent life for long when my child came into this world. I was young and energetic, and coupled with the worries of work and life, I often did not pay enough attention to my child, so when I had my grandchildren, I began to spoil them in all kinds of ways. But spoiling children is not conducive to their healthy growth.

3. Living with grandparents for a long time is not good for children’s physical and mental health

If parents do not live with their children and their children are not with their parents for a long time, it will be detrimental to the healthy physical and mental development of the children. Children feel as if their parents have abandoned them since childhood. When they grow up, they will lack a sense of security. This phenomenon will be more obvious in intimate relationships, and they often have trouble handling their relationship with their wives. To sum up, I personally don’t agree with letting the mother-in-law take care of the children. It is best to take care of the child yourself. If you are busy with work, then finding a nanny is the best option. On the one hand, parents can see their children every day, and if their children have any bad habits, they can discover them in time. At the same time, it can also cultivate the relationship between parents and children.
