What are the dangers of anti-blue light glasses

Anti-blue light glasses are a type of protective glasses that can prevent blue light from irritating the eyes. They have the effect of filtering blue light and isolating ultraviolet rays. Moderate use of blue light glasses can have a certain protective effect on the eyes, but you must understand that excessive use of anti-blue light glasses will cause certain adverse effects on the eyes, such as causing eye fatigue, dizziness and nausea, and loss of appetite.

1. Rational understanding of the hazards of blue light .

At present, many businesses in the market exaggerate the efficacy of their own brand of anti-blue light glasses and the harm of blue light for their own selfish interests, so we first need to have a rational understanding of the harm of blue light. So what is the blue light spectrum of actual electronic devices like? Please see the picture below.

2. Definition of blue light hazards .

According to the definition of spectroscopy, blue light is mainly high-energy visible light concentrated in the wavelength band of 400-500NM, and is also commonly defined as HEV (high energy visible light) abroad. Therefore, we can understand blue light as visible light of 400-500NM.

According to Planck's theorem and Einstein's photon theory, because blue light has the shortest wavelength and therefore the highest energy, it can pass through the lens directly to the retina (macular area).

3. It is definitely more necessary to pay attention to blue light damage .

At present, the focus of awareness of the hazards of blue light is mainly on the chronic photodamage to the retina caused by long-term excessive blue light radiation. This has been confirmed under experimental conditions. That is, under the continuous illumination of blue light, it was observed that the retinal pigment epithelial cell layer of the fundus of mice became significantly thinner, eventually inducing oxidative apoptosis of photosensitive cells (cones and rods).

Therefore, there is currently a claim that blue light is one of the causes of ARMD. This claim has been mentioned in many foreign academic weekly journals, but it remains controversial. Since the cause of ARMD has not yet been finally confirmed and agreed upon in the ophthalmology community, possible factors include age, blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, smoking and drinking, sunlight exposure (short-wave blue light damage), and eating habits. But if you have friends with ARMD around you, it is definitely more necessary to pay attention to the harm caused by blue light.

4. The harm of blue light to our body also focuses on the impact on melatonin secretion

This is the so-called morning effect. Because it has been confirmed that blue light is the spectrum with the strongest inhibitory effect on nocturnal melatonin secretion among visible light, and blue light with a wavelength of around 450nm has the greatest spectral antagonism to melatonin.

Of course, in addition to this, blue light has the shortest wavelength and is therefore easily scattered in the air, causing glare and other bad effects.
