Is moxibustion therapy for hemorrhoids effective?

Is moxibustion therapy for hemorrhoids effective?

Hemorrhoids are a common disease in life. The symptoms of this disease are quite obvious. Patients can clearly feel discomfort in the anus and have a strong feeling of heaviness and swelling. Some patients also have a strong urge to defecate, but stool is excreted during the formal defecation. Severe cases of hemorrhoids can also cause anal bleeding and blood in the stool. In modern life, the treatment of hemorrhoids mainly relies on surgery, but surgery carries high risks and many sequelae, so it should be considered carefully. The use of traditional Chinese medicine moxibustion to treat hemorrhoids has been a very popular method in recent years. Let’s take a look at whether moxibustion therapy for hemorrhoids is effective?

Moxibustion can treat hemorrhoids mainly because it has a powerful function of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. The common cause of various hemorrhoids is poor blood circulation in the anal veins. By using moxibustion to improve the blood circulation around the anus, the protruding and swollen veins will naturally shrink.

Step 1: A moxa stick (can also be cut into two pieces)

Step 2: Place the fixed moxa stick in the middle under the small stool with a hole, aligning it with the hole.

Step 3: The patient sits on a bench with the affected area facing the small hole on the bench.

Just fumigate for 10 to 20 minutes a day, and ten times constitute a course of treatment. For severe patients, the disease can be eradicated in one or two courses of treatment!

People with heavy internal heat should not fumigate for too long, so as to avoid getting angry and causing constipation!

Develop good living habits:

1) Pay attention to dietary adjustments: do not drink alcohol and do not eat spicy foods, such as pickled mustard, chili peppers, hot sauce, ginger, onions, garlic, fennel, etc. Eat more vegetables and fruits, such as spinach, celery, wild rice stem, watermelon, pears, bananas, apples, etc.

2) Try to defecate in one go: Some patients are afraid of defecation due to anal pain after surgery, or they stop defecation before emptying their stool due to anal pain, which causes the stool to stay in the rectum for too long, absorbing too much water, and the feces becomes dry and difficult to excrete.

3) Have regular bowel movements and keep bowel movements smooth: Drink plenty of water and consume beverages that have a laxative effect, which can promote urination and avoid constipation.

4) Develop the habit of taking a sitz bath after defecation: Sitz bath is a simple and effective way to clean the anus, promote wound healing and reduce inflammation. You must take a sitz bath after each bowel movement. When taking a sitz bath, first use hot steam to fumigate. When the water temperature is appropriate, put the anus and perineum into the basin for washing and sitz bathing. Each time, it takes about 20 minutes.
