What causes chapped lips

Many people experience chapped lips when the seasons change, especially in autumn when the climate is dry and the temperature is unstable. At such times, people especially like to lick their lips. Although it seems to relieve the dryness of the lips, it will make the dryness of the lips worse. Now let’s talk about the causes of dryness of the lips.

Causes of chapped lips:

Lack of water or dry mouth due to talking too much can cause dry lips and accumulation of dead skin on the lips or corners of the mouth. At this time, you should drink more water and keep your lips clean. When the lip skin is raised, do not tear it with your hands, as this can easily tear the lips, causing pain and bleeding. You can use small scissors to carefully cut off the raised skin on your lips in front of a mirror. When it is windy or cold, the skin surface is not supplied with enough moisture and the moisture is absorbed by the dry air, making the lips most susceptible to dryness.

Reason 1:

Once the lips become dry and peeling, many people will unconsciously want to use their tongue to "moisturize" their lips, but the result is often counterproductive, causing the moisture in the lip skin to evaporate faster, and the symptoms of dry lips become worse. Moreover, many people do not pay attention to the moisturizing and care of their lips, which will also cause damage to their lips in the dry winter.

Reason 2:

Lack of vitamins and water. Dryness and cracking at the corners of the mouth is a sign of vitamin deficiency. You should supplement vitamins, eat more fruits and vegetables, and avoid picky eating. In addition, fried, deep-fried, spicy and other irritating foods can also cause chapped lips, and the mint substance in chewing gum can also make lips sensitive.

Ways to relieve chapped lips:

1. Apply a thick layer of highly moisturizing lip balm or honey, olive oil on your lips, then seal your lips with plastic wrap, and then apply a warm towel on the plastic wrap. This can achieve a lip moisturizing effect to a certain extent. If you persist in doing so, your lips will become moist and plump again.

2. Find a lip balm made from antioxidant ingredients such as vitamin E and natural ingredients with moisturizing and anti-inflammatory functions such as aloe vera and mint, and apply it on dry lips. Combined with proper massage, it can better retain moisture on the lips and moisturize the lip skin.
