BCG suppuration is a normal vaccination reaction. Generally, after BCG vaccination, people with strong immunity will experience mild suppuration at the vaccination site. Therefore, suppuration from BCG is a normal phenomenon. As long as the suppuration is not very strong, there is no need to worry. Just thoroughly clean and disinfect the area to avoid infection. If there is no suppuration, it means that the vaccination may not be successful and must be vaccinated again. If the vaccination is successful, suppuration will occur and form a scar.

If local pustules or ulcers occur after BCG vaccination, there is no need to apply medicine or bandage, especially do not use gentian violet. But the area should be kept clean and clothes should not be worn too tightly. If pus flows out, wipe it with sterile gauze or cotton. Do not squeeze it. It will heal and form a scab naturally in about two to three months. Wait for the scab to fall off naturally and do not pick it off prematurely. It generally does not affect the baby's health. The normal reactions after BCG vaccination are as follows:

1. 2 to 3 days after vaccination, the skin at the injection site will be slightly red and swollen, and it will disappear quickly.

2. 7 to 14 days after vaccination, there will be red nodules at the vaccination site, which will be slightly painful and itchy.

3. 4 to 6 weeks after vaccination, it may turn into a pustule or ulcer, which is usually no larger than 0.5 cm in diameter and contains a small amount of pus.

4. The ulcer will heal naturally after 2 to 3 months after vaccination, and a slight scar will be left after the scab falls off.

Home care precautions: Pus bubbles or ulcers formed by small red nodules should not be squeezed or bandaged, just keep them clean; if the injection site is severely swollen and infected, please ask a doctor to check.
