What are the reasons for sore teeth

Tooth soreness is a type of dental disease. Especially in autumn and winter, many people feel sore and painful teeth when cold water enters their mouths and touches their teeth while brushing their teeth. Moreover, sore and weak teeth also affect eating. There are great inconveniences in all aspects, and there are many reasons for sore teeth, which may be caused by various dental diseases. The following four reasons are common.

1. Cracked teeth:

Also known as microcracks, they are small cracks that appear on the surface of the crown due to long-term chronic damage. It is common to occur in teeth grinding. The scary thing is that there are often no symptoms in the early stages. When the cracks penetrate into the dentin layer under the tooth surface, it will cause tooth soreness and pain when biting things. Spontaneous pain will only occur when the pulp is infected, and eventually tooth splitting and tooth loss may occur.

2. Tooth decay:

In fact, it is what we often call "rotten teeth", which is the most common chronic disease. If you have dental caries, you will feel soreness and weakness when brushing your teeth, drinking hot water, and chewing food. This means that the caries has developed to a medium depth. When the caries develops deep and close to the pulp, the sensitive symptoms will be very obvious, and even pain will occur under cold or hot stimulation.

3. Wedge-shaped defect:

Wedge-shaped defects in teeth sound complicated, but they are actually caused by incorrect brushing methods, which mechanically damage the neck of the tooth and cause defects. This exposes the dentin layer, which is easily affected by external stimuli, especially the change in temperature, resulting in sensitive symptoms. It should be noted that when spontaneous pain occurs, it means that the damage has developed deep into the pulp and caused pulpitis.

4. Dentin hypersensitivity:

Sensitive symptoms occur due to the exposure of the second layer of dentin of the teeth and the opening of dentinal tubules. There is no spontaneous pain, and the teeth are particularly sensitive to temperature changes and the stimulation of chewing and biting. Multiple teeth may experience this condition at the same time.

5. Periodontal disease:

When periodontitis develops to the middle and late stages, the alveolar bone is absorbed, causing the gums to shrink and the root surfaces to be exposed. The root surfaces of teeth that have lost their protective function are prone to sensitivity when exposed to cold or hot temperature stimulation. The symptoms are also characterized by soreness and weakness in multiple teeth or the necks of all teeth in the mouth, and a noticeable sense of weakness when biting things.
