What should I do if my ears are bleeding? Common treatments include these

It is very common to have pus in the ear. This symptom may occur in many situations and is also closely related to bacterial infection. Of course, pus in the ear may also be caused by otitis media. This phenomenon must be treated in time. There are many clinical treatments for ear suppuration. It is necessary to consider the cause and prescribe the right medicine. What should I do if pus comes out of the ear?

1. Otitis media

If there is thick yellow fluid in the ear, it may be otitis media. One type is suppurative otitis media, which is mostly caused by a cold. The initial ear pain is obvious and there may be a fever. The pain will be relieved after the eardrum is perforated and pus flows out. The other type is called non-suppurative otitis media. This type of otitis media does not cause pus discharge, but only causes stuffiness in the ears, hearing loss, or tinnitus. This is caused by inflammation of the Eustachian tube, which leads to changes in the pressure in the middle ear cavity. The treatment of purulent otitis media is conditional on pus culture and drug sensitivity testing, and antibiotics are selected based on the test results, either orally or by injection.

2. Cleaning

If the amount of pus in the ear is large and thick, clean it with hydrogen peroxide, and then use sensitive antibiotic ear drops. If it is non-suppurative otitis media, the main thing is to reduce the edema of the Eustachian tube, use nasal drops, anti-edema drugs, etc., and use antibiotics appropriately.

3. Others

In the acute phase, you should rest in bed and receive symptomatic treatment. You can use anti-inflammatory drugs such as sulfonamides and antibiotics. Before the tympanic membrane perforates, you can use 2%~5% phenol glycerin ear drops, 3 times a day, 3~4 drops each time; if the ear pain is severe, the tympanic membrane bulges or the perforation is too small, and the pus is not drained smoothly, you can consider surgical myringotomy. If after the tympanic membrane perforates. You can first use 3% boric acid water or 3% hydrogen peroxide to wash the ears, and then choose an ear drop medicine, such as 2% phenol glycerin, 2.5% chloramphenicol glycerin, 1%~2% gentamicin or 1% berberine solution, etc., and at the same time use 1% ephedrine and other nasal drops to promote the anti-inflammatory and unobstructed Eustachian tube to facilitate tympanic drainage. If the pus flow stops and the tympanic membrane perforation has healed, but the hearing is still poor, the Eustachian tube can be indirectly blown. Pay attention to prevent colds and colds, and prevent water ingress, etc.
