Causes and prevention measures for children's lice

There are more and more left-behind children nowadays. Many children do not pay attention to their hygiene, do not wash their hair in time, and change their clothes only once in a long time. Gradually, lice appear on their bodies. Lice are tiny parasites that live in the human body and constantly suck blood, so we must take this phenomenon seriously. Some people may ask why children still get lice even though they pay attention to hygiene? In fact, there are many reasons for lice. For the health of your children, let’s learn about them below!

1. Unclean hair may cause lice

Lice are parasites, they do not grow from the human body and have nothing to do with nutrition or physical condition, but are related to living environment, hygiene habits, etc. Not washing hair frequently or not drying hair in time after being caught in the rain can all induce lice. Therefore, children should develop good hygiene habits, wash their hair frequently, and cut their hair short. Try to keep your hair dry. Don't cover or tie your hair after being caught in the rain or washing it, so that your hair can dry quickly and avoid creating a warm and humid environment for lice.

2. Contact with children with head lice may cause infection

Head lice is a contagious disease that is usually contracted by children through contact with a lice carrier. Lice are small insects that can fly onto other people's scalps through contact. Adult lice lay eggs at the roots of hair, which hatch into lice two weeks later. Lice live on hair and grow by biting the scalp and sucking human blood. When it bites the scalp, the child will experience an itchy sensation. Because lice cause itching and discomfort, and are highly contagious, they must be treated promptly.

3. How head lice are transmitted

Generally speaking, head lice are transmitted mainly through contact with the patient's head, comb, hairpins, hats, headscarves and other objects. Head lice cannot jump or fly to another person.

Head lice are most common among adolescent children attending kindergarten, preschool, and elementary school. Children of this age group often play closely together, with more hair-to-hair contact, and they may also share things such as combs, hats, and hairpins.
