Proximal phalanx fracture

Proximal phalanx fracture

Proximal phalanx fractures are relatively common. Most of them are fractures caused by external force, but the specific severity can only be known after taking an X-ray. If there is deformity, surgical treatment must be taken to avoid the sequelae of deformity. It can be corrected well and attention should be paid to fixation.

A phalangeal fracture is a break in one of the 14 phalanges in the hand. It is more common than fractures in other parts of the body, and most of them are multiple fractures. There are typical displacement and deformity after fracture. The diagnosis is relatively easy, but X-rays are still needed to understand the displacement in detail, so as to use different techniques for reduction and fixation.

It should be differentiated from various finger injuries;

1. Introduction to finger bruise: Finger bruise: The finger is subjected to external force resulting in soft tissue injury.

2. Frozen and swollen fingers are the early symptoms of frostbite. Hands, feet and ears are the peripheral parts of the human body's blood circulation and are prone to frostbite. After late autumn, the temperature suddenly drops and the blood flow in the peripheral blood vessels becomes slow. When the temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius, the subcutaneous arterioles in the above-mentioned parts will contract due to the cold, and the venous return will be blocked, resulting in frostbite. Some patients also suffer from frostbite due to congenital vascular mutations and vascular stenosis, which lead to poor blood flow.

If a finger joint is sprained and becomes thicker and painful to bend, it is very likely that the ligament is injured. Ligament injury can easily lead to joint instability, abnormal friction of the articular cartilage, and may eventually develop into traumatic arthritis. After a joint sprain, stop moving immediately to prevent further pain and swelling. If the injury is serious, fracture should be considered, and it is best to go to the hospital or doctor for treatment to prevent worsening of the injury or bone deformity. When transporting, the affected area should be fixed with tape first.

1. When a sprain occurs, it is advisable to use ice cubes wrapped in a towel or apply a cold compress to the affected area. Do not take a bath or massage immediately. After two days, apply hot compress and massage to reduce swelling. Local ointment can be used to relieve pain.

In case of joint dislocation, limit movement and try to reposition it as soon as possible. Those who do not know how to reposition the joint should not do so at will and should go to the hospital for treatment promptly. Do not reposition the fracture at will and go to the hospital for treatment immediately. After reduction, local cold compress can be applied to reduce pain.

2. If the finger was severely sprained, then the soft tissue may be damaged. If the bending is restricted, the ligament will be damaged. The swelling is caused by blood stasis and fluid exudation inside, but if the bone feels swollen, then it is cartilage or periosteum damage.

It is recommended that you choose wild Chinese herbal medicine for external application treatment. Ligament treatment takes 20 days to heal, and cartilage or periosteum repair takes 20 to 30 days to heal. After healing, the swelling and pain will disappear and the curvature will return to normal.

People with soft tissue injuries should avoid eating chicken, carp, pickled bamboo shoots, ginger, and beef.

3. Apply safflower oil externally and take the professional blood-activating and blood-stasis-removing medicine Baxian Healing Powder internally. The symptoms will be significantly relieved in 7 days and can be cured in 20 days.
