What are the symptoms of temporomandibular joint disorder

Temporomandibular joint disease is a common disease. Patients can achieve the treatment effect through medication. The most common methods are hot compress with Chinese medicine and cryotherapy. The effect can also be achieved through local parts and local repair methods. Because the condition of joint diseases is very special, do not make decisions on your own in terms of treatment. You need to consult a doctor and accept the corresponding treatment plan according to the situation to quickly achieve recovery effects.

Clinical classification and treatment points

1. Hyperfunction of lateral pterygoid muscles

Blocked therapy adjusts the function of the lateral pterygoid muscle. Use 5 ml of 0.5% or 1% procaine for lateral pterygoid muscle blockade once a day, 5 to 7 times as a course of treatment. The amount of each closure and the interval time can be adjusted according to the opening degree and the bounce situation.

2. Lateral pterygoid muscle spasm

To relieve muscle spasms, treatment methods include physical therapy (15% calcium chloride solution for ion introduction into the joint area and masticatory muscle area), infrared, wax therapy, etc.; blockade therapy (2% procaine 2-3ml for lateral pterygoid muscle blockade); local hot compress with Chinese medicine, etc.

3. Myofascial pain

Oral sedatives (such as diazepam) and analgesics (such as enteric-coated aspirin), blockade therapy (2% procaine 2-3ml trigger point blockade, once a day, 5 times as a course of treatment), physical therapy, etc.

4. Reducible disc displacement

For joint popping without functional impairment, joint protection measures and local hot and moist compresses can be prescribed. Repositioning splint therapy can reduce or eliminate joint clicking. If accompanied by lateral pterygoid muscle spasm or synovitis, relevant symptomatic treatment should be carried out. For reducible anterior displacement without functional impairment, surgical treatment is not required.
