The harm of hypertension cannot be underestimated. If it is not taken seriously, it is very likely to cause hypertensive eye disease. Clinical studies have found that patients with hypertension will have some changes in the fundus. If the hypertension is severe, the fundus positivity rate is also higher. The probability of fundus changes in patients with hypertensive eye disease is as high as 70%. The fundus positivity rate has nothing to do with gender, but is closely related to the patient's age. The older the age, the higher the positivity rate. In patients with chronic hypertension, which is common in clinical practice, the rate of fundus positivity is positively correlated with the length of the disease course; those with a longer disease course have a higher rate of fundus positivity. Hypertensive eye disease is a common disease caused by high blood pressure. If not taken seriously, the following complications may occur. 1. Retinal hemorrhage: This situation often occurs in patients who already suffer from hypertension, arteriosclerosis, and diabetes. It is especially likely to occur in patients with existing hypertension. It can also be secondary to diseases such as retinal vein occlusion and retinal periphlebitis. The main symptoms are decreased vision, floating black shadows in front of the eyes, and in severe cases, sudden loss of vision. 2. Acute angle-closure glaucoma: This eye disease is more common in elderly women. Patients may experience severe headaches, eye pain, nausea, vomiting, sudden decrease in vision, and "rainbows" appearing when viewing lights. Some may also experience symptoms such as fever and chills. It can easily be mistaken for a gastrointestinal illness or a cold. 3. Visual decline: The consequence is a greatly increased incidence of myopia, dry eyes, and conjunctivitis, with symptoms such as dry eyes, redness, burning or foreign body sensation, heavy eyelids, eye pain, headache, and decreased vision. What diseases can high blood pressure cause? Through the introduction of the above content, I hope everyone will have some understanding of some of the symptoms that occur in patients with hypertension. At the same time, you must pay attention to timely treatment so that you can better treat hypertension. |
