Stomach disease, black stool

There are still many misunderstandings about stomach problems. In traditional concepts, stomach problems simply refer to pain in the stomach. In fact, stomach problems are a general term for this type of disease, and the symptoms it causes are not just pain. For example, many stomach diseases can cause patients to have fever, nausea, vomiting, and black stools. If the black stools are caused by stomach disease, it may be caused by some stomach ulcers, gastritis, or stomach cancer. Do not ignore it.

1. Gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer

Gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer is the most common cause of gastrointestinal bleeding, accounting for about half of all causes. In general, young people are more likely to develop duodenal ulcers, and duodenal ulcers are more likely to bleed than gastric ulcers. Since ulcers can invade blood vessels, they can cause varying degrees of bleeding. In mild cases, there will be black stools, while in severe cases, there may even be life-threatening symptoms such as vomiting blood.

2. Gastric Cancer

China is a country with a high incidence of gastric cancer, and gastric cancer ranks second in cancer incidence in China. In recent years, due to environmental pollution and changes in dietary structure, more and more young people have suffered from gastric cancer. Gastric cancer generally does not have any specific symptoms in the early stages. Only some people experience symptoms of indigestion such as upper abdominal discomfort, belching, and bloating. When people with gastric cancer have black stools, it often indicates that the disease has entered the middle or late stages. Therefore, people who have had stomach problems in the past or have a family history of stomach cancer should pay more attention to their bowel movements.

3. Acute gastritis

Acute gastritis is acute inflammation and damage to the stomach caused by various reasons, such as excessive drinking, taking certain medications, major stimulation, food spoilage and so on. In addition to black stools or vomiting blood, there are often symptoms such as upper abdominal pain, severe vomiting, and decreased appetite. This condition accounts for about 20% of the causes of upper gastrointestinal problems.

4. Liver Cirrhosis

China is a country with a high incidence of hepatitis B, and many people suffer from cirrhosis. Because the blood vessels in the esophagus and gastric fundus of patients with cirrhosis are significantly thicker and more varicose than those of normal people, when people with cirrhosis are overworked, eat rough food, or cough violently, the varicose blood vessels will rupture, leading to rupture and bleeding of esophageal varicose veins and gastric fundus, resulting in symptoms such as black stools, vomiting blood, low blood pressure, and cold sweats. This condition is often very dangerous and life-threatening.
