What are the symptoms and treatment of high blood pressure?

Generally, people with high blood pressure will be prone to heart rate fluctuations, transient ischemia in the brain, cerebral thrombosis and other diseases, and their vision will progressively deteriorate. For the treatment of hypertension, if the condition is relatively mild, you need to control salt intake in your diet, get enough sleep, and avoid using drugs to control blood pressure.

1) Heart: Left ventricular hypertrophy or arrhythmia, heart failure often occurs in the late stage. Myocardial infarction and sudden death may occur when coronary heart disease occurs.

2) Brain: Cerebrovascular complications are the most common complications of hypertension in China. Waking up early may cause transient ischemic attack (TIA), which may lead to thrombosis, cerebral infarction, hypertensive encephalopathy and cerebral hemorrhage.

3) Kidneys: When the kidneys are affected, proteinuria may occur, and in severe cases, renal function damage may occur.

4) Blood vessels: If the blood vessels in the fundus are affected, progressive visual impairment and aortic dissection may occur.

Treatment of hypertension:

1. Improve your lifestyle to reduce high blood pressure

Regardless of whether they receive drug treatment or not, every patient with hypertension needs to receive non-drug treatment, that is, improvements in lifestyle. For some mild patients, doctors will recommend non-drug treatment for a period of time to see if it can lower blood pressure. Mainly include: limiting salt intake, reducing and controlling weight, quitting smoking, low-fat diet, limiting alcohol consumption, regular activities, adjusting life patterns, ensuring adequate sleep, avoiding mood swings and excessive fatigue.

2. Drug treatment

Treatment principles

Use a smaller effective dose to obtain the possible therapeutic effect while minimizing adverse reactions. If the effect is unsatisfactory, the dose can be gradually increased to obtain the best therapeutic effect.

In order to effectively prevent target organ damage, blood pressure must be stabilized within the target range for 24 hours a day. It is best to use a drug that can be administered once a day and has a 24-hour effect.

In order to increase the antihypertensive effect without increasing adverse reactions, two or more antihypertensive drugs can be used in combination therapy. Hypertension above grade 2 often requires combined treatment with antihypertensive drugs to achieve target blood pressure.
