What are the symptoms of nasal sinusitis

Nasal sinusitis is the name of a disease in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which mainly refers to frequent runny nose in patients, which often leads to symptoms such as nasal congestion, headache, loss of smell, etc. It can cause abnormal pain in the sinus area, and often causes dizziness and high fever in patients. It can cause varying degrees of harm to the patient's spleen, stomach, gallbladder, and lungs.

(I) Wind-heat in the lung meridian

Symptoms: nasal congestion, profuse white or yellow thick nasal discharge, decreased sense of smell, headache, and may also be accompanied by fever, aversion to wind, sweating, or cough, excessive sputum, red tongue, thin white tongue coating, and rapid pulse. Examination showed that the nasal mucosa was congested and swollen, especially the middle turbinate, and sticky or purulent secretions were seen in the middle nasal meatus or olfactory groove. Percussion pain or tenderness in the forehead, brow bone, or maxillofacial area.

(ii) Gallbladder heat

Symptoms: Purulent nasal discharge, large amount, yellow or yellow-green in color, or with a fishy odor, nasal congestion, decreased sense of smell, and severe headache. There may be concurrent systemic symptoms such as irritability, bitter taste in the mouth, dry throat, tinnitus, deafness, poor sleep, frequent dreams, yellow and red urine, etc. The tongue is red, the tongue coating is yellow or greasy, and the pulse is stringy and rapid. Examination shows that the nasal mucosa is congested and swollen, and there is retention of sticky or purulent secretions in the middle nasal meatus, olfactory groove or nasal floor. There may be percussion pain or tenderness in the forehead, brow bone or maxillofacial area.

(III) Dampness and heat in the spleen and stomach

Symptoms: severe and persistent nasal congestion, yellow and turbid nasal discharge with large amount, decreased sense of smell, dizziness or heaviness of the head, fatigue, chest and abdominal distension, poor appetite, yellow and red urine, red tongue, yellow and greasy coating, and slippery and rapid pulse. Examination revealed redness and swelling of the nasal mucosa, especially more severe swelling, sticky or purulent secretions in the middle nasal meatus, olfactory groove or nasal floor, and tenderness in the maxillofacial area, forehead or brow bone.

(IV) Lung Qi Deficiency and Coldness

Symptoms: Nasal congestion may be severe or mild, with sticky white nasal discharge. Nasal congestion may worsen when exposed to wind and cold, with increased nasal discharge, occasional sneezing, decreased sense of smell, dizziness, head distension, shortness of breath and fatigue, low voice, pale complexion, spontaneous sweating, fear of wind and cold, cough with excessive sputum, pale tongue, thin white fur, and slow and weak pulse. Examination revealed reddish swelling of the nasal mucosa, hypertrophy or polypoid changes of the middle turbinate, and sticky secretions in the middle nasal meatus.

(V) Weak Spleen

Symptoms: White or yellow and thick nasal discharge, large amount, decreased sense of smell, severe nasal congestion, poor appetite, abdominal distension and loose stools, abdominal distension, limb fatigue, sallow complexion, dizziness, or stuffy head. The tongue is pale and fat, the tongue coating is thin white, and the pulse is thready and weak. Examination showed that the nasal mucosa was pale red, the middle turbinate was enlarged or polypoid, and there was retention of sticky or purulent secretions in the middle nasal meatus, olfactory groove or nasal floor.
