Arachnoid cyst is a relatively serious disease. Patients with arachnoid cysts usually appear during the embryonic development period. Severe cases may cause lesions and infection characteristics in patients. If the arachnoid disease is more serious, you must pay attention to early treatment. It can usually be detected during the embryonic formation period. Timely judgment, reasonable testing, and early prevention are required. Arachnoid cyst is a type of benign brain cyst. There is an arachnoid-like cyst wall and cerebrospinal fluid-like cyst fluid. Arachnoid cysts are divided into two categories: congenital and secondary. CT findings of sylvian fissure arachnoid cyst Congenital arachnoid cysts are sac-like structures formed by cerebrospinal fluid being surrounded by the arachnoid membrane and not communicating with the subarachnoid space. In the secondary case, due to arachnoid adhesion, cysts containing cerebrospinal fluid are formed in the subarachnoid space. It is common in small cranial fossa, but also seen in the cistern magnum, the quadrigeminal cistern and the suprasellar cistern. Intracranial arachnoid cysts can be divided into three types according to their causes: congenital, traumatic and post-infectious arachnoid cysts. Congenital arachnoid cyst Congenital arachnoid cysts are a common type. The cause of the disease is not yet fully understood, but the following speculations are made: 1. Starkman et al. believe that the cause of this disease may be that during embryonic development, a small piece of arachnoid membrane falls into the subarachnoid space and develops. That is, the cyst is located in the arachnoid membrane. Under the microscope, it can be seen that the arachnoid membrane is split into two layers around the cyst. The outer layer constitutes the surface of the cyst, and the inner layer constitutes the cyst base. There is still a subarachnoid space between the pia mater and the cyst base. Jiang Dajie discovered that the surface of the cyst wall was also composed of two layers of arachnoid membrane, that is, the entire cyst was located in the subarachnoid space. 2. Many people believe that during embryonic development, the pulsation of the choroid plexus acts as a pump for cerebrospinal fluid, separating the loose perimedullar network surrounding the nerve tissue to form the subarachnoid space. If the early cerebrospinal fluid flow is abnormal, cysts may form in the perimedullar network. 3. Because this disease is often accompanied by other congenital abnormalities, such as ectopic choroid plexus in the cyst, partial absence of the falx cerebri, and absence of the orbital plate, temporal lobe and internal carotid artery, all confirm that the basic cause of this disease is brain dysplasia. |
