The most common cause of papular urticaria is actually this thing!

Papular urticaria is a relatively common skin disease. There are many reasons for this disease. One important reason that many people tend to overlook is mosquito bites. For people with allergies, if they are bitten by mosquitoes, it is easy to trigger the symptoms of this disease. For example, mosquitoes, bedbugs, cockroaches, fleas, etc. can easily bite patients and cause illness.

1. The rash is not just wheals, there should also be papules (small bumps).

In addition to the difference in the rash, there are differences in cause and age of onset. Papular urticaria is also called "insect bite dermatitis" and common people call it "acclimatization". It is a common disease among infants and children, and often several people in a family suffer from the disease at the same time.

2. Insect bites are the most common cause

The cause of this disease is food allergy, not the main one. Insect bites are considered to be the most common cause. For example, this disease is common in spring and summer, when insects are active and the number of mites, mosquitoes, bedbugs, fleas, etc. gradually increases. Some people have allergic reactions after being bitten by these insects. Some statistics show that 80%-90% of papular urticaria is caused by insect bites. Therefore, this disease is more common in summer, especially in rural areas where sanitary conditions are relatively poor and there are more insects. For a few people, it is caused by food, such as seafood, eggs, milk and poor digestion.

The skin manifestation of this disease is a rash that often appears in batches. It is the size of soybeans to peanuts, with slightly spindle-shaped bright red edematous maculopapules, similar to "wheals", often with water scars in the center, and sometimes bullae or blood blisters. The number is not fixed, they may appear in groups but do not merge with each other. It usually disappears in 1 to 2 weeks. Some of them leave pigmentation spots after disappearing, and a few leave hard papules (a special lesion called prurigo). Common parts include trunk, waist and limbs. Frequent scratching due to itching can easily lead to infection, but generally there is no general discomfort.
