What to do if your teeth are calcium deficient?

If your teeth are calcium deficient, you should of course focus on calcium supplementation to consolidate the health of your teeth and oral health. Of course, when supplementing calcium, you should also pay attention to the supplementation of vitamin D, which will be more conducive to absorption. Also, be careful not to take active calcium for a long time.

1. Take vitamin D while taking calcium

Without the participation of vitamin D, the human body's absorption of dietary calcium can reach less than 10%. In addition, vitamin D also has the function of promoting the reabsorption of calcium by the kidneys and regulating blood calcium levels. The sources of vitamin D in the human body are either from diet or synthesis through the skin when exposed to ultraviolet rays from sunlight. In winter, people rarely go outdoors, and the amount of vitamin D synthesized by the skin decreases, so it is necessary to supplement it in appropriate amounts so that the body can absorb calcium to the maximum extent possible. This is especially important for older people.

2. Do not take active calcium for a long time

Active calcium is a calcium mixture extracted from aquatic shells such as oyster shells through high-temperature and low-temperature burning. It is mostly calcium hydroxide, has a high level of heavy metals, and is relatively corrosive. Someone once did an experiment in which they fed active calcium to mice, which resulted in their death. After the autopsy, it was found that their intestines were congested. Therefore, taking larger doses of activated calcium often causes adverse reactions such as nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. This shows that long-term use of activated calcium will also reduce the normal function of the stomach.

3. Calcium preparations are best taken between meals

Generally, plant foods contain more fatty acid and oxalic acid, which can combine with calcium ions to form insoluble calcium salts that cannot be used by the human body and are excreted from the body. Animal food contains a lot of fat, and excessive fatty acids can combine with calcium ions to form calcium focus, which cannot be used by the human body. Due to the above two reasons, taking calcium preparations during meals will reduce the body's calcium absorption rate and cause waste, so only taking calcium preparations between meals can ensure that calcium is better utilized.
