Is hyperthyroidism hereditary?

Hyperthyroidism is actually a relatively common disease. Many people are affected and harmed by it. We must understand the cause and do a good job of prevention. Hyperthyroidism is hereditary. If the mother has hyperthyroidism, the probability of her children developing hyperthyroidism will increase. In addition, if their own disease resistance decreases, they may also suffer from hyperthyroidism.

1. In medicine, human leukocyte antigen is a genetic marker. Many studies have found that one or several human leukocyte antigens are significantly increased in patients with toxic diffuse goiter, further indicating that this disease is closely related to genetics.

2. There are many types of hyperthyroidism, the most common of which is diffuse toxic goiter. The onset of toxic diffuse goiter is related to factors such as genetics and autoimmunity, but whether symptoms of hyperthyroidism appear is also related to some inducing factors. If these triggering factors are avoided, hyperthyroidism symptoms may not occur, or the onset of hyperthyroidism symptoms may be delayed, or the symptoms of hyperthyroidism may be alleviated.

3. Children whose mothers suffer from hyperthyroidism are more susceptible to the pathogens of hyperthyroidism than other people. Although they are more susceptible to hyperthyroidism, not everyone will suffer from hyperthyroidism. Two other factors must be involved. One is contact with the pathogens of hyperthyroidism. There is a certain chance of inheriting hyperthyroidism. Most clinical patients with hyperthyroidism have familial hyperthyroidism.

4. Another reason is that due to excessive fatigue or mental factors, one's own resistance to disease is reduced. The combination of these three factors can cause hyperthyroidism.

5. The immunology theory believes that hyperthyroidism is an autoimmune disease. Modern studies have shown that it is induced by stress factors such as infection and mental trauma. It is an organ-specific autoimmune disease caused by defective suppressor T lymphocyte function. It is the same autoimmune thyroid disease as autoimmune thyroiditis. A survey has shown that 60% of patients' families have a genetic tendency to hyperthyroidism.
