Is chewing gum useful to quit smoking?

Everyone knows that smoking is harmful to health, but there are still many people who love smoking, especially some teenagers who learn the bad habit of smoking during their rebellious period. Because many people now pay attention to taking care of their bodies, they can all join the ranks of quitting smoking. However, quitting smoking is not something that can be done overnight. Eating chewing gum to relieve smoking addiction is a very good method.

Smoking cessation chewing gum is made by adding nicotine into chewing gum through technical means, and releasing it slowly through chewing. Due to the different absorption rates of the mouth and body organs, the peak gradient of nicotine concentration in the blood will be greatly reduced compared to smoking. Therefore, taking smoking cessation chewing gum only helps to quit smoking and will not cause addiction. Chewing smoking cessation gum is definitely better than smoking directly. Smoking cessation gum contains a small amount of nicotine, which can help smokers to reduce withdrawal symptoms after stopping smoking. According to the American Lung Association, each person should not chew more than 24 pieces of smoking cessation gum per day, and the period of using smoking cessation gum should not exceed 3 months.

Effective ways to quit smoking:

1. During the period of quitting smoking, try to smoke less as much as possible. You should reduce the number of times you smoke and the amount of smoke you swallow into your lungs. Calculate and record the amount of cigarettes you smoke every day, and try to smoke less than the day before.

2. Properly arrange some no-smoking days for yourself and take a break from smoking, such as on Sundays, when you should not smoke in order not to affect the health of your family. Or you can schedule it for the end of the month, or not smoke until the end of the year. Of course, this approach requires strong willpower and self-control.

3. When you can control yourself from smoking, do not accept cigarettes handed to you by others. This can reduce passive smoking.

4. Every time you can’t help but smoke, try to find ways to delay the time of smoking and deliberately make it difficult for yourself to get cigarettes.

5. Every time you smoke, don't inhale all the smoke in one breath. It's best to inhale only one-third of the smoke and then throw away the rest. Don’t mind the waste too much, because the part of the cigarette that is thrown away contains the most nicotine in the whole cigarette, so throwing it away is equivalent to reducing the damage of nicotine to the body.
