Is prostate cancer contagious?

Is prostate cancer contagious?

Prostate cancer is not contagious. The disease is caused primarily by genetic factors, aging, and changes in hormone levels. It is not spread through contact, air, or body fluids. To prevent prostate cancer, focus on a healthy diet, moderate exercise, and regular medical checkups.

1. Non-infectious characteristics of prostate cancer

Prostate cancer is a type of cancer caused by abnormal cell proliferation in the body. Its occurrence is closely related to genetic genes, personal constitution and endocrine system. The essence of cancer is gene mutation in cells, which cannot be transmitted through contact between people, body fluids or air. Prostate cancer is definitely not an infectious disease, and there is no need to ignore or isolate patients because of this cancer.

2. The main causes of prostate cancer

(1) Genetic factors: If there is a family history of prostate cancer, especially if a direct relative is ill, the risk of developing the disease will be relatively high.

(2) Age influence: The incidence of prostate cancer increases significantly in men over 50 years old, which may be related to genetic mutations and hormonal changes caused by aging.

(3) Environment and lifestyle: Unhealthy lifestyle habits such as a high-fat diet, long-term smoking, or lack of exercise can also increase the risk of disease.

(4) Changes in hormone levels: Abnormal secretion of androgens (such as testosterone) in the body is an important mechanism for inducing prostate cancer. Excessive or long-term stimulated hormone levels may cause abnormal proliferation of prostate cells and further deteriorate into cancer.

3. How to prevent and detect prostate cancer

(1) Scientific dietary adjustment: It is recommended to consume more foods rich in dietary fiber, such as whole grains, dark green vegetables (broccoli, spinach) and nuts, while reducing the intake of high-fat foods and red meat. Lycopene in tomatoes and Omega-3 fatty acids in fish are considered to be beneficial to prostate health.

(2) Maintain moderate exercise: Do at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week, such as brisk walking, swimming, or cycling, which helps control weight and activate immune function, reducing the risk of cancer.

(3) Regular physical examinations and screening: It is recommended that men over 50 years old undergo prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing and digital rectal examination (DRE) every year. High-risk groups can undergo testing earlier at the age of 45.

In general, although prostate cancer is not contagious, it is a chronic disease that is closely related to age, genetics and lifestyle. Early prevention, early detection and early treatment can be achieved through optimizing diet, exercising regularly and cooperating with regular screening. Paying attention to one's own health is the only way for every man to reduce the risk of disease.
