Common colds and fevers are symptoms caused by viral infections, and there is no specific medicine to treat viruses. The treatment method is only to treat the symptoms of cold and fever. Therefore, it is not a question of whether taking medicine or getting an injection is better. Even without treatment, you will recover in about a week.

What are the symptoms of a cold?

1. Runny nose

Symptoms of a runny nose, rapid fever, red lips, and sore throat are symptoms of a heat cold (wind-heat cold, summer-heat and dampness cold), and drugs that relieve the symptoms, clear heat, and detoxify are generally more appropriate. If the early symptoms such as fear of cold, runny nose, sneezing, etc. are caused by wind-cold, you can drink ginger and brown sugar water, Ganhe tea, Tongxuan Lifei Pills, etc. for symptomatic treatment.

2. Nasal congestion

No matter what type of cold it is, there will be symptoms of nasal congestion, but for a cold caused by wind and cold, there is no sweat, but nasal congestion and clear nasal discharge; for a cold caused by wind and heat, there is sweat and the nasal discharge is turbid. The symptoms of summer-heat and dampness cold include difficulty sweating, nasal congestion and runny nose.

3. Sore throat

If you have a sore throat when you have a cold, it may be a wind-heat cold. Symptoms usually include nasal mucus or yellow nasal discharge, sore throat, cough, thirst, and thick yellow phlegm. If these symptoms occur, you may wish to use drugs that clear heat and detoxify.

4. Cough

A high-pitched cough is a wind-heat cold, with obvious fever, sore throat, yellow phlegm, dry stool, thirst, etc. Itchy throat and cough are caused by wind-cold, with symptoms such as fear of cold, aversion to chills, fever, thin white tongue coating, and clear and thin sputum.

5. Nasopharyngeal discomfort

Symptoms will appear 1-3 days after a cold, with nasopharyngeal discomfort being a common initial symptom. There is usually no fever, but sometimes there is a low-grade fever when symptoms first begin. What to do if you have a cold

1. Apple honey water

Take five apples, peel them and cut them into small pieces. Add 1 liter of water in a pot, then put the apples in and boil for five minutes. Then let the apple water cool naturally to about 40℃, add appropriate amount of honey and stir evenly.

2. Chicken soup

Take a tender chicken, cut it open and clean it, then add water to boil it. When eating, add seasonings to the chicken soup, such as pepper, ginger, etc. You can also use the chicken soup to cook noodles. This can relieve the symptoms of nasal congestion and runny nose caused by a cold, and can enhance immunity.

3. Scallion and black bean soup

Add 30 grams of scallion with roots, 10 grams of fermented black beans, and 3 slices of ginger to 500 grams of water and bring to a boil. Then add 30 grams of rice wine, drink it while hot, and cover with a blanket to induce sweating.
