What is sinus arrhythmia? You need to know these

Sinus arrhythmia is a type of cardiac arrhythmia. This disease is relatively common in clinical practice, but many people do not know what sinus arrhythmia is. There are many reasons for sinus arrhythmia. In addition to pathological factors, we should also pay attention to the causes of physiological reactions.

1. Sinus arrhythmia is a type of cardiac arrhythmia, including sinus tachycardia, sinus bradycardia, sinus arrhythmia, sinus node reentrant tachycardia, sinus arrest, sinoatrial block and sick sinus syndrome.

2. Common causes may be normal physiological reactions, such as physical activity, emotional excitement, smoking, drinking tea and coffee, etc.; they may occur in disease states such as fever, hypovolemia, anemia, hyperthyroidism, inflammation, etc.; and they may occur after the use of drugs such as epinephrine and isoproterenol.

3. Clinical manifestations of sinus bradycardia include a heart rate of no less than 50 beats/min, generally with no obvious symptoms. When severe bradycardia causes a decrease in cardiac output and leads to insufficient blood supply to various organs and tissues, the patient will experience symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, palpitations, chest tightness, and even blackouts, fainting, or induce angina pectoris and heart failure.

4. Treatment: Patients with physiological sinus bradycardia or asymptomatic patients generally do not require treatment. For pathological bradycardia, such as a heart rate below 40 beats/min and the presence of bradycardia-related symptoms, drugs that increase the heart rate (such as atropine, ephedrine, or isoproterenol) can be used. Patients with significant sinus bradycardia accompanied by sinus arrest, syncope and poor drug response may consider implanting an artificial cardiac pacemaker.
