What causes nausea and vomiting?

Nausea and vomiting are common phenomena in daily life. Not only do they make people feel very painful, but they also seriously affect people's normal life and work. So what exactly causes nausea and vomiting? In fact, this is related to the following 8 factors. The first reason is that it may be caused by infectious diseases of the digestive system.

1. Causes of the disease

There are many causes of nausea and vomiting, such as:

1. Digestive system infectious diseases: food poisoning, acute gastroenteritis, viral hepatitis

2. Visceral painful diseases: acute intestinal obstruction, pancreatitis, cholecystitis, peritonitis

3. Central nervous system diseases: encephalitis, meningitis, hypertensive encephalopathy

4. Drug-induced: chemotherapy drugs, digitalis drugs, certain antibiotics such as erythromycin

5. Motion sickness: People who suffer from motion sickness may experience nausea and vomiting during an attack.

6. Neurogenic vomiting: Some people have had the disease since childhood or school days, and there may be a family history. It is more common in women.

7. Cold: During a cold, the body will experience many discomforts, which may cause vomiting and nausea.

Others: acute glaucoma, Meniere's disease, vomiting during pregnancy, indigestion, etc.

2. Disease Signs

1Appendicitis

Nausea can be caused by nausea, or it can be a sign of a more serious condition, such as a warning sign of a heart attack or stroke. Extreme nausea in women along with cold-like symptoms could be a sign of heart disease. In addition, if you experience nausea, fatigue, or loss of appetite, these may be early symptoms of viral hepatitis and you should go to the hospital for examination in time. Many women experience nausea before their period, and half of women experience nausea during pregnancy. Drinking a cup of mint tea after getting up in the morning may help the symptoms disappear immediately.

2 Occurs after meals: Nausea Possible diagnosis: gastrointestinal disease, hepatitis.

Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea after meals are mostly caused by gastrointestinal diseases such as indigestion, gastritis, enteritis, dysentery and food poisoning. If nausea is accompanied by anorexia and fatigue, you should be alert to viral hepatitis, seek medical treatment and isolate yourself in time. If nausea is accompanied by throat discomfort, it may be chronic inflammation of the throat. If a woman of childbearing age has not had her period for more than 4 weeks without taking any contraceptive measures (or if her contraception has failed), she should consider whether it is due to early pregnancy.

3. Chronic gastritis

Nausea and vomiting, belching, indigestion, upper abdominal fullness, burning, dull pain, and arrhythmic pain without hunger pain and relief after meals. It is often aggravated by spicy food or excessive cold or heat.

4 Peptic ulcer disease

The onset is usually slow, and the course of the disease may last for years or even decades. Nausea, vomiting, belching, acid reflux, diarrhea, upper abdominal pain, cyclical attacks, lasting for several days or weeks, and then relieved. The pain has a rhythmicity related to diet, and eating or taking alkaline drugs can often relieve the pain.

5. Gastroptosis

Anorexia, nausea, vomiting, belching, upper abdominal discomfort, dull pain, easy fullness, constipation, etc. The symptoms are relieved by lying down, and worsened by standing for a long time after a meal or after fatigue. More common in slender women.

6. Bacillary dysentery

The onset is acute, with chills, fever, body temperature reaching over 39°C, nausea, vomiting, accompanied by general discomfort and aches and pains. At the same time or several hours later, abdominal pain and diarrhea occur, with loose stools followed by bloody and purulent stools, small amounts, and tenesmus. In severe cases, the patient may suffer from bloody stools, dehydration, or even shock.

7Acute viral hepatitis

Nausea, vomiting, aversion to oil, poor appetite, general fatigue, abdominal distension, diarrhea, and pain in the liver area. The jaundice type has an acute onset. The patients are afraid of chills and have fever. The onset of the anicteric type is slower, and most patients do not have fever, which is similar to a cold.

8. Cirrhosis

The onset is slow, with symptoms such as loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension, diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss, emaciation, dull complexion, dilation of small blood vessels in the cheeks, spider hemorrhoids or palms of the face, epistaxis, gingival bleeding, anemia and subcutaneous ecchymosis.

9. Hypertension

Nausea and vomiting are accompanied by dizziness, headache, head fullness, tinnitus, blurred vision, insomnia and a very tight neck. In severe cases, symptoms may include palpitations, sweating, dry mouth, pale or flushed face, blurred vision, tremors in the hands and feet, and in severe cases, irritability, convulsions, and coma.
