As we all know, there are many types of cervical spondylosis, such as cervical type cervical spondylosis, radiculopathy, vertebral artery cervical spondylosis, etc. So what is cervical artery type cervical spondylosis? Most people don't quite understand this. In fact, cervical artery type cervical spondylosis is caused by stimulation of the cervical sympathetic nerves, which leads to involvement of the vertebral artery. 1. What is cervical artery type cervical spondylosis Cervical spondylosis includes: cervical type cervical spondylosis, radiculopathy type cervical spondylosis, spinal cord type cervical spondylosis, vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis, sympathetic nerve type cervical spondylosis, and esophageal compression type cervical spondylosis. The irritation of the cervical sympathetic nerves leads to the involvement of the vertebral artery, which can cause comprehensive symptoms such as dizziness and blurred vision. This is called vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis, vertebral artery compression syndrome, cervical vertigo, vertebral artery ischemia syndrome, and vertebral-basilar artery insufficiency. Vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis is slightly more common than spinal cord type cervical spondylosis, because most of them are caused by vertebral instability and can be easily cured or improved by non-surgical treatment, so fewer people need to be hospitalized or need surgery. This type mainly causes headache symptoms. 2. Early symptoms of cervical artery type cervical spondylosis 1. Headache. Headache is a typical symptom of patients with vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis, and patients may also experience dizziness when experiencing this symptom. The main reason for headache symptoms in patients with vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis is: vertebral artery spasm causes ischemia of the greater occipital nerve and headache symptoms in the area innervated by the greater occipital nerve. It is intermittent throbbing pain, radiating from the back of the neck on one side to the occipital region and half of the head, with a burning sensation. A small number of patients have pain hypersensitivity and feel obvious pain when touching the head. 2. Dizziness. Dizziness is a symptom that all patients with vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis will experience. The reason why patients experience this symptom is that when the patient extends or rotates the neck, there is a change in body position, which induces vertigo symptoms. 3. Visual impairment. Patients with vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis rarely experience visual impairment. The main reason is that cervical spondylosis will cause spasm reaction of vertebral basilar artery when it occurs, followed by ischemic lesions of the visual center of the occipital lobe of the brain. A small number of patients may experience decreased vision or visual field defects, and severe cases may even cause blindness. |
