What to do if you are poisoned by Dichlorvos?

Dichlorvos is a type of herbicide developed after World War II, mainly used to kill insects on crops. In recent years, many people have accidentally ingested Dichlorvos, and some have even chosen to commit suicide using this drug. Because of its strong medicinal properties and great harm to the human body, what should we do if we accidentally ingest DDT and get poisoned? Therefore, we must have a comprehensive understanding of Dichlorvos in our lives, and it is necessary to master the first aid methods for Dichlorvos poisoning.

1. What should you do if you are poisoned by DDT? For patients who have accidentally ingested a small amount of DDT and are conscious and cooperative, gastric lavage can be performed at home. The method is to let the patient drink light salt water, or put a small amount of baking soda in water, have the patient drink four or five cups, and then touch the throat lightly with a toothbrush or chopsticks to induce nausea and vomiting, so as to expel the unabsorbed toxins from the body as soon as possible. Do not force the patient to cooperate if he/she does not cooperate, and do not force sauerkraut soup or even induce vomiting through stool, so as to avoid serious consequences (if other organophosphorus pesticides are accidentally ingested, use light salt water or warm water to wash the stomach, and do not add baking soda to avoid toxicity changes). The patient should be sent to the hospital for treatment. People with severe poisoning should be sent to hospital for emergency treatment immediately.

2. Patients with mild inhalation or contact poisoning should leave the spraying site immediately, take a deep breath in a cool place with fresh air, take off contaminated clothes, hats, shoes, etc. immediately, rinse their hair and whole body with plenty of cool water, then rinse their hair and whole body with plenty of lukewarm water, and finally scrub and rinse with warm water and soap. However, if you are poisoned by trichlorfon, do not wash with soap, because it can be converted into the more toxic dichlorvos in alkaline solution. In addition to bathing, you should also use a kettle filled with cold boiled water to rinse the patient's eyes. The upper and lower eyelids should be separated and turned outward to thoroughly wash away the remaining medicine. Where the skin comes into contact with a lot of toxins, itching, swelling, inflammation, pain and blisters may occur. You should rinse gently to protect the skin from breaking to avoid infection.

3. Preventive measures must be taken. If the symptoms have not improved after poisoning for more than 12 hours, gastric lavage can still be performed, and comatose patients should also have their gastric lavage performed.
