Neuromuscular dystrophy, common causes to understand

Muscular dystrophy can cause great pain to patients, and this disease is very difficult to treat. Everyone should understand the causes of neuromuscular dystrophy, take good care of themselves in daily life, combine work and rest to maintain a good attitude.

1. Causes of muscular dystrophy

1. Upper motor neuron disease is caused by muscle atrophy due to long-term muscle inactivity, systemic wasting diseases such as hyperthyroidism, malignant tumors, autoimmune diseases, etc. This is one of the causes of muscle atrophy.

2. Muscle atrophy is mainly caused by lesions of the spinal cord and lower motor neurons. It is seen in vertebral bone hyperplasia, intervertebral disc lesions, spinal nerve tumors, arachnoiditis, neuritis, plexus lesions, spinal nerve tumors, arachnoiditis, neuritis, plexus lesions, nerve injury, syringomyelia, motor neuron disease, Guillain-Barré syndrome, disuse muscular atrophy caused by brain lesions and spinal cord lesions, etc.

3. The causes of muscle atrophy are also common in muscular dystrophy, nutritional myotonia, periodic paralysis, polymyositis, trauma such as crush syndrome, ischemic myopathy, metabolic myopathy, endocrine myopathy, drug-induced myopathy, neuromuscular transmission disorder myopathy such as myasthenia gravis, etc. The presence of these factors will lead to the occurrence of muscle atrophy.

2. How to care for muscular dystrophy

1. Maintain an optimistic and happy mood

Intense, long-term or repeated mental stress, anxiety, irritability, pessimism and other emotional changes can cause an imbalance in the excitation and inhibition processes of the cerebral cortex, aggravate muscle twitching, and cause muscle atrophy in the elderly.

2. Prevent gastroenteritis

Gastroenteritis can lead to dysfunction of intestinal bacteria, especially viral gastroenteritis, which can cause varying degrees of damage to the anterior horn cells of the spinal cord, resulting in increased muscle twitching, decreased muscle strength, and recurrence or aggravation of the disease in elderly patients with muscular atrophy.

3. Rationally adjust the diet structure

Elderly patients with muscular atrophy need high-protein, high-energy dietary supplements to provide the substances necessary for the reconstruction of nerve cells and skeletal muscle cells in order to enhance muscle strength and grow muscle. They should adopt high-protein foods rich in vitamins, phospholipids and trace elements in the early stage, and actively cooperate with medicated diet, such as yam, coix seed, lotus seed heart, tangerine peel, pseudoginseng, lily, etc., avoid spicy food, and quit smoking and drinking.

4. Strictly prevent colds

Elderly patients with muscular atrophy have low immune function or some kind of immune deficiency. Once they catch a cold, their condition will worsen, the course of the disease will be prolonged, and muscle atrophy and twitching will worsen. Especially patients with bulbar palsy are prone to lung infection. If not treated in time, the prognosis will be poor and even the patient's life will be endangered. For patients in the middle and late stages, a high-protein, high-nutrition, energy-rich semi-liquid and liquid diet is the main diet, and small and frequent meals are adopted to maintain the patient's nutrition and water and electrolyte balance.

The above are all about the causes of muscle atrophy. I hope it will be helpful to everyone. If you have other questions about muscle atrophy, you can consult an expert.
