What causes excessive sweating in the upper body?

There is actually not a single reason for sweating in the upper body, as there are many reasons for sweating, and the sweating condition may be closely related to physical health, such as the common diabetes, or people with weak constitution will experience this symptom of excessive sweating.

1. The amount of sweat a person produces is not only related to temperature and activity level, but is also closely related to meteorological factors such as wind, humidity, and air pressure. When the temperature is high and the humidity is low, the human body is most likely to sweat profusely; conversely, when the wind speed is low and the humidity and air pressure are high, the human body will have difficulty sweating even if the temperature is high. In such circumstances, people are more likely to suffer from heatstroke.

2. For example, some people who occasionally catch a cold always drink ginger soup and then lie in bed, covered with a quilt. Once they sweat, the illness is basically cured. This is because people who catch a cold have their sweat glands blocked by the cold, and cannot dissipate heat through sweating, which causes their body temperature to rise. After drinking soup and covering themselves with a quilt, the sweat glands dilate due to the heat, allowing sweat to be excreted, dissipating body heat and lowering body temperature. It can truly be said that "sweating can cure the disease."

3. Generally speaking, it is normal to sweat more in the hot summer, but if you sweat too much, it will be bad for your health. Excessive sweating can reduce the flow of blood circulation in the human body, slow down the circulation, reduce the body's heat dissipation, and thus cause the body temperature to rise. Excessive sweating can also cause the body to lose salt, and cells may suffer from heat cramps due to lack of sodium. Therefore, in summer, people should replenish fluids and appropriate salt in time.

4. my country's traditional medical book "The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine" also lists many examples of using "sweating" to diagnose diseases. For example, patients with diabetes sweat less but urinate more; patients with cirrhosis of the liver sweat yellow with a slightly fishy smell; sweating on half of the body in the elderly may be a precursor to a stroke; people with weak constitutions are prone to night sweats during sleep; and after sweating due to a high fever, they often suffer from symptoms such as a drop in body temperature and cold limbs.
