What causes excessive sweating in the armpits

Armpit sweating is actually a way for the body to regulate its temperature, but if you sweat a lot and it has an odor, then you should pay attention to whether it is hyperhidrosis or some other disease, because we can understand our health problems through sweating.

1. Sweating is the body's way of regulating temperature. When we feel hot or during exercise, sweating can help the body lower its body temperature to normal levels through the evaporation of sweat. But we also found that some people sweat a lot, and their hands and feet are always wet even in the cold winter. Excessive sweating like this is a condition called hyperhidrosis.

2. The incidence of hyperhidrosis is very high. According to research, 1 in every 500 people is susceptible to this disease. Some studies have also shown that this disease may be related to genes, which means that the disease is hereditary. This explains why more Westerners have this disease, because genes determine that their sweat glands are more developed than those of Oriental people.

3. Sweating is controlled by the sympathetic nervous system. The human body has as many as 5 million sweat glands, 2/3 of which are located in the palms, so the palms tend to sweat when you are nervous. Experts believe that the main cause of hyperhidrosis may be excessive excitement of the sympathetic nerves, leading to excessive secretion of sweat glands.

4. Of course, there are many other causes of hyperhidrosis, and some diseases can also cause increased sweat secretion. For example, excessive sweating accompanied by palpitations, increased appetite, mood swings, and insomnia may be a manifestation of hyperthyroidism; a series of symptoms such as chest tightness, subcostal pain, loss of appetite, and cold sweats may be manifestations of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases; diabetes can lead to autonomic neuropathy, and patients will show abnormal sweating, such as no sweating, little sweating, or excessive sweating. Therefore, when you encounter unexplained excessive sweating in the clinic, don't forget to check urine sugar, blood sugar and blood sugar metabolism rate, and strive to detect diabetes at an early stage. Therefore, older people should be especially careful. When excessive sweating is accompanied by a series of other uncomfortable symptoms, they should go to the hospital in time and be alert to the occurrence of certain diseases.
