What is the best medicine for high cholesterol? Can it be cured by taking medicine?

High cholesterol can be treated with drugs. Depending on the different causes of high cholesterol, there are roughly four types of drugs to choose from: lipid-regulating drugs that improve cholesterol metabolism disorders, lipid-regulating drugs that mainly lower plasma cholesterol, drugs that increase high-density lipoprotein, or drugs that prevent cholesterol from being oxidized. Only by taking medication strictly according to the doctor's instructions and having regular check-ups can you control your cholesterol levels.

Cholesterol, triglycerides, and lecithin. Clinically, it is found that high blood lipids are generally caused by the first two. Cholesterol is divided into two types: high-density cholesterol and low-density cholesterol. The former has a protective effect on the cardiovascular system and is usually called "good cholesterol". The latter, if high, increases the risk of coronary heart disease and is usually called "bad cholesterol."

Excessive cholesterol intake will cause hypercholesterolemia, which in turn will lead to the so-called "rich man's disease" such as coronary atherosclerotic heart disease.

Treatment of high cholesterol and dietary therapy

You can take lipid-lowering drugs such as lovastatin, simvastatin, fluvastatin, etc. At the same time, you must pay attention to your diet. If you don't pay attention to your diet, no medicine will be useful.

In order to lower cholesterol, you should also reduce the intake of some high-cholesterol foods, especially animal offal such as heart and liver. The principle is to eat no more than three or four eggs a week, and especially try to eat less egg yolks, including various fish eggs, crab roe, etc.

Vegetable oil should be used for cooking. In addition, the amount of sugar must be limited, and it is best to avoid consuming pure sugar foods or drinks. Try to eat less whole milk, chocolate milk, cream and various cheeses, and eat more skim milk and soy milk.

Regarding meat, you should avoid eating fat, pig skin, pig trotters, sausages, and all kinds of oily beef, mutton, and pork. Regarding seafood, you should avoid shrimps, crabs, clams, and oysters.

In addition, various exquisite desserts such as cakes and chocolate should only be eaten in small amounts. Various animal fats, coconut oil, etc. should be avoided and replaced with margarine and vegetable oil.

Cholesterol-free foods

In fact, there are many foods in our daily diet that do not contain cholesterol, including hard-shelled fruits such as almonds and walnuts; grains, protein, fruit jams and jellies; in addition, there are vegetables, peanuts, peanut butter, vegetable oils and margarine, gluten, beans and soy milk, tofu and other soy products. In particular, eat more fruits, which contain pectin and can also lower cholesterol.

In recent years, many reports have shown that consuming oats can also lower cholesterol. Many studies have shown that oats are actually as effective as beans. If you add two or three cups of oatmeal to a low-fat diet every day, the cholesterol-lowering effect is better than just taking a healthy diet.

Other foods that are beneficial for lowering cholesterol include carrots and raw garlic. Many studies in the past have shown that consuming large amounts of raw garlic can reduce harmful blood fats. In addition to diet, regular exercise and weight control can help lower cholesterol in the body.
