Can tooth decay be contagious?

Tooth decay is actually not contagious, but we all know that many times the occurrence of tooth decay is mainly caused by not paying attention to oral hygiene, which leads to the growth and reproduction of some plaque, so we must pay attention to the prevention of tooth decay.

1. Why do other healthy teeth decay one after another after a cavity appears? This is because the incidence of tooth decay is high and the speed of development is also fast. The main reason for its occurrence is unclean oral cavity, which is caused by oral plaque and food stains that cannot be brushed off. As long as the conditions are right, tooth decay will occur, and the oral environment itself is also suitable for the growth and reproduction of plaque.

2. The appearance of a cavity indicates that there is a loophole in our oral environment and the mouth is not clean. Although tooth decay is not contagious like the flu, oral uncleanness is a fact and will continue to cause decay in other teeth.

3. Regarding mother-to-child transmission, it is common for mothers to feed their children mouth-to-mouth. The probability of tooth decay caused by saliva is very small, but the mother's dental health during pregnancy will indeed affect the child born later.

4. In the early stages of tooth decay, the teeth will change to a chalky color and lose their luster. In other words, if they are too white and dull, it may be the early stages of tooth decay and you need to pay attention. Cracks appear on the tooth surface and the tooth lacks luster, which means that the tooth enamel is beginning to be lost and the teeth are becoming mineralized. If you see cavities in the mirror, it means that the oral environment is not optimistic.
