Seven important points to note when caring for anal perineal fistula

The absence of anal perineal fistula will cause great pain to the patient. Not only will pus, itching and skin problems easily occur in the affected area, but it will also cause trouble to the normal life and work schedule. However, even if suffering from anorectal perineal fistula, patients must maintain a positive attitude, cooperate with the hospital treatment, and properly handle their daily care work.

1. Anal fistula should be treated actively, usually with thread hanging and excision. Hanging thread placement is usually done in outpatient clinics. You must cooperate well before the operation and don't be nervous. Take a shower and change clothes the night before the operation, especially wash the anus and surrounding skin several times with soap. Defecate in the morning and then clean the anus and surrounding skin.

2. Keep the anus unobstructed after the operation. You can take laxatives such as paraffin oil, honey, etc., and take painkillers when in pain. Start sitting bath on the second day after the operation, once in the morning, evening and after use. Dry the area after bathing and apply 2% berberine ointment. Go to the hospital to tighten the stitches every 5 to 7 days until the rubber band falls off and the anal fistula is opened. After the stitches are removed, you can apply Shengji powder or anti-inflammatory ointment locally. The wound will usually heal in about three weeks.

3. The diet should be light and low in residue, and spicy food should be avoided. You can drink fruit juice and eat fresh fruits and vegetables.

4. Actively prevent the formation of anal fistula, treat the infection of the tissues around the anus in time, and pay attention to the hygiene of the anus and genitals.

5. When anal fistula becomes inflamed and purulent, if the external opening is blocked, you can use a sterilized needle to prick the external opening and drain the pus, which can not only relieve the swelling and pain, but also prevent the pus from spreading to other parts. At the same time, you can use Chinese medicine decoction to clear away heat and detoxify for external washing.

6. Anal fistula is caused by local infection of the anus. After the formation of anal fistula, pus often overflows and the anus becomes damp and uncomfortable. Therefore, it is extremely important to pay attention to the cleanliness of the anus. The anus should be washed frequently with warm water, at least once a night.

7. If there is a lot of secretion from anal fistula, the underwear should be changed frequently, washed and exposed to the sun. You can also use an anal belt to protect the anus to avoid excessive contamination of the underwear. The anal band should also be changed and washed frequently to prevent pus and secretions from accumulating in the affected area.
