What's wrong with the itching inside the anus

Many people have experienced itching inside the anus, and this condition is also relatively common in clinical practice. Many people are not clear about what causes anal itching. Generally speaking, anal itching mainly includes primary itching and secondary itching, and targeted treatment is better.

1. Primary pruritus

Primary pruritus is not accompanied by primary skin damage, with itching as the main symptom.

2. Secondary pruritus

Secondary pruritus is caused by primary diseases and various skin diseases, accompanied by obvious specific skin damage and primary lesions. Itching is often a symptom of the primary lesion. Anal pruritus caused by anal fistula, anal eczema, condyloma, neurodermatitis, anorectal tumors, pinworms, etc. belongs to this category. Anal pruritus is mild at first, and there is no obvious change in the anal skin. It is mostly paroxysmal. Patients with long-term illness have more severe itching and last longer, especially at night. Excessive scratching or mechanical stimulation causes the perianal skin to proliferate, thicken and roughen, the anal folds to deepen, and there are local scratches, blood scabs, exudate, and fecal dirt in the folds. In more serious cases, there may be infection with pus bubbles or purulent secretions, flushing and swelling. The lesions can extend to the perineum, scrotum, female vulva and even the skin of both buttocks. Clinical examinations can reveal internal hemorrhoids, external hemorrhoids, mixed hemorrhoids, anal fistulas, or laboratory tests can reveal diabetes, pinworm disease, Candida albicans infection, etc.

(3) Anal itching is a symptom that often occurs secondary to various skin diseases or other diseases, with obvious specific skin damage and primary lesions. The anus sometimes feels slightly itchy. If the itching is severe and does not heal for a long time, it becomes pruritus. It is a common localized neurological dysfunctional skin disease. It mostly occurs in middle-aged and elderly people aged 20 to 40, less frequently in young people under 20 years old, and rarely in children.
