Onychomycosis is a relatively common nail disease. The incidence of onychomycosis has been relatively high in recent years, especially among the elderly, which is related to the decline in the elderly's physical fitness. When onychomycosis occurs, it must be treated in time. It is necessary to understand the types of onychomycosis. Generally speaking, onychomycosis is mainly divided into 4 types. Different types will also have certain differences in treatment methods. Let's take a look at this aspect. How many types of onychomycosis are there (1) White superficial type More than 90% are caused by Trichophyton mentagrophytes, and can also be caused by fungi such as Aspergillus niger, Fusarium oxysporum, and Acremonium truncatum. Children may be infected with Candida albicans. The pathogenic bacteria directly invade the surface of the deck, initially appearing as white islands smaller than 1 mm, which gradually expand into white, cloudy turbidity, and the surface of the deck becomes uneven or deformed. (2) Proximal subungual type It is usually caused by Candida species. The lesions start from the proximal end of the nail plate and appear as small white spots at first, which gradually expand to invade the entire nail plate. Most of them enter the nail plate or nail bed through the cuticle. It manifests as roughness, thickening, unevenness or damage to the lunula and nail root. (3) Distal lateral subungual type It is the most common type. Mycelium can be found in the debris under the affected nail, and dermatophytes can be cultured. It is mostly spread from tinea pedis and tinea manuum. The fungus gradually spreads from one side of the nail contour to the distal front edge and lateral edge of the nail, causing it to become thickened, gray-yellow and turbid, and the surface of the nail plate to become uneven or damaged. (4) Deck interior It is a new type of fungal infection of the nails. The fungus penetrates the cuticle and forms milky white patches without subungual hyperkeratosis or onycholysis. There are also fungal hyphae that form clumps inside the nails, called dermatophyte tumors, which are mostly caused by Sudan Trichophyton and purple Trichophyton. What should patients with onychomycosis eat? 1. High-protein diet A high-protein diet is necessary to maintain healthy nails, and egg yolks are a good source of protein. Oatmeal, nuts, seeds, grains, and soy products are all rich in plant protein, which is the dietary principle for onychomycosis. 2. Supplement more nutrients Such as protein, vitamin A or vitamin A emulsion, brewer's yeast, calcium and magnesium, vitamin D, vitamin B, vitamin C and a series of diets for onychomycosis. 3. Eat more fruits and vegetables Fruits and vegetables should make up 50% of your daily diet. This is very important in the diet for onychomycosis, and eating more vegetables and fruits also plays an important role in other aspects of the body's health. |
