It does take a lot of willpower to control their mouths and chew slowly. At the same time, it is instinctively difficult to approach food slowly when you are starving.

The food that can slow down eating speed the most is cold vegetables, because raw food cannot be swallowed without chewing well, so it takes a particularly long time to eat. Whole grain staple foods are definitely slower to eat than white rice and white flour. For example, drinking oatmeal porridge is definitely slower than drinking white rice porridge; eating whole-wheat steamed bread is also slower than eating white steamed bread.
