How to treat viral keratitis

How to treat viral keratitis

Viral keratitis is also a type of keratitis, which is a common eye disease. Viral keratitis can cause great harm to people's eyes, so it must be treated promptly. There are many treatments for viral keratitis, generally medication or surgery.

1. Medication

Antiviral drugs are mainly used in drug treatment, such as iodine, also known as herpes net, which is mainly suitable for cases of initial onset. For cases of multiple recurrences, other drugs should be used instead; cytarabine has certain effects, but is highly toxic to normal cells, so its derivative cyclocytidine is often used; triazole nucleoside, also known as virazole, is a broad-spectrum antiviral drug with good efficacy and low toxicity to normal cells; acyclovir, also known as acyclovir, is a more effective antiviral drug, especially for herpes viruses, it has a significant inhibitory effect; other antiviral drugs include adenosine, trifluorothymidine nucleoside, etc. Adrenal cortical hormone can also be used because it has the effect of inhibiting corneal immune response and anti-inflammatory, and is often used in the late treatment of herpes simplex virus keratitis.

2. Surgery

The surgical method is selected according to the condition. Commonly used methods include: mechanical debridement, anterior chamber puncture, conjunctival flap coverage, corneal transplantation, etc.

3. Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment

Traditional Chinese medicine treatment is based on syndrome differentiation and treatment according to the cause of the disease. If wind-heat invades the upper body, choose wind-dispelling and heat-clearing drugs such as Yinqiao Powder; if the liver and gallbladder are raging with fire, choose liver-clearing and fire-removing drugs such as Longdan Xiegan Decoction; if it is caused by damp-heat fumigation, choose heat-clearing and dampness-removing drugs such as Sanren Decoction; if the body is weak and the evil is retained, it is necessary to strengthen the body and eliminate the evil, and choose prescriptions such as Jiajian Dihuang Pills for treatment. In addition to oral Chinese medicine, traditional Chinese medicine also cooperates with local treatment. It often uses Chinese medicine preparations for clearing heat and detoxifying as eye drops, such as Scutellaria baicalensis eye drops. If the condition is serious, Yinhuang injection can be used for subconjunctival injection. In addition, you can also use Chinese medicine decoction for fumigation before taking it, or atomize the Chinese medicine decoction.
