What will happen to skin cancer in the later stages?

In the late stages of skin cancer, the skin often breaks down, ulcers form, and the skin is surrounded by pearly raised edges that curl inward. It can also cause bleeding, foul odor, and pain, all of which are life-threatening.

1. Ulcers: Most skin cancers will break down and form ulcers in the late stages of their development. The formation of ulcers indicates that the cancer has grown aggressively and metastasized. In the late stages of basal cell carcinoma of the skin, the lesions enlarge and ulcerate, surrounded by a pearly, raised border that curls inward, and are called erosive ulcers.

2. Bleeding: After the skin lesions break, the blood vessels eroded by the tumor will bleed, causing bleeding in the lesion area. More aggressive skin cancers, such as squamous cell carcinoma of the skin and melanoma of the skin, are more likely to bleed.

3. Foul odor: Cancer patients have decreased immunity, and skin lesions rupture and bleed and necrotize, which often lead to secondary bacterial infection. The metabolic toxic products produced by the infection cause the skin lesions to emit a foul odor. Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, primary cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, etc. to the late stage.

4. Fever: Advanced cancer patients will develop fever after skin lesions, ulceration, bleeding and necrosis followed by bacterial infection. In addition to fever caused by infection, fever of unknown cause is also one of the most common symptoms of cancer.

5. Pain: Advanced cancer is often accompanied by metastasis. Skin cancer is most likely to metastasize to the blood. The most common sites of metastasis are the lungs and bones. Therefore, in addition to the pain symptoms in the local skin lesions, pain may also occur in the metastatic site. If bone metastasis occurs, the pain will be very severe and unbearable.
