What are the early symptoms of conjunctivitis

I believe many of my friends have heard of conjunctivitis. Conjunctivitis is a very common disease in life and is also highly contagious. Patients themselves have strong feelings about some symptoms of conjunctivitis, such as severe pain in the eyes and redness of the eyes.

1. Symptoms:

1. Severe irritation symptoms such as severe pain, photophobia, tearing, and watery secretions;

2. Red and swollen eyelids, highly congested and edematous conjunctiva, and dotted, flaky or extensive bleeding under the bulbar conjunctiva;

3. Diffuse punctate epithelial loss and fluorescein staining of the cornea;

4. Swollen lymph nodes in front of the ear or under the mandible.

2. Physical signs:

During the examination, the eyelids were swollen and the conjunctiva showed that the upper and lower eyelids were connected by secretions. The conjunctiva is bright red and is most obvious on the palpebral and fornix areas. In severe cases, the surface of the conjunctiva may be covered with a layer of pseudomembrane that is easily rubbed off, so it is also called pseudomembranous conjunctivitis. The bulbar conjunctiva is congested and edematous to varying degrees and loses its transparency. The surface of the cornea, conjunctiva, eyelid margin and other parts are covered with mucous or purulent secretions. If it is a Kochweeks bacteria or pneumococcal infection, the conjunctiva may be highly congested and edematous, accompanied by scattered small spots of hemorrhage. Corneal complications are mainly caused by Kochweeks bacteria, manifested as catarrhal corneal marginal infiltration or ulcers. The lesions begin as shallow punctate corneal infiltrations located on the inner side of the corneal margin. Later, the infiltrations merge with each other to form an arcuate shallow ulcer. Cloudiness may remain after recovery.
