How to care for diabetes insipidus

Diabetes insipidus also requires careful care during treatment, otherwise it is easy to cause recurrence. In addition to regular re-examinations, you should also pay more attention to your body's water status, because diabetes insipidus will cause patients to urinate more frequently, and more water must be replenished in time after excreting more water.

【Observation of the disease】

1. Accurately record the patient's urine volume, urine specific gravity, and water intake, and observe whether the fluid intake and output are balanced, as well as weight changes.

2. Observe dietary conditions, such as loss of appetite, constipation, fever, dry skin, fatigue, and poor sleep.

3. Observe for symptoms of dehydration including headache, nausea, vomiting, chest tightness, collapse, and coma.

【 Symptomatic care 】

1. Those with polyuria and polydipsia should be given assistance to prevent dehydration and water should be supplied according to the patient's needs.

2. Measure urine volume, water intake, and body weight to monitor fluid intake and output, record them correctly, and observe urine color, urine specific gravity, electrolytes, and blood osmotic pressure.

3. Patients who suffer from nocturnal polyuria, insomnia, fatigue, and mental anxiety should be given nursing care.

4. Pay attention to the patient's dehydration symptoms and give fluids as soon as possible once they are discovered.

5. Keep skin and mucous membranes clean.

6. Those who are prone to constipation should take early prevention measures.

7. During drug treatment and examination, attention should be paid to observing the efficacy and side effects, and patients should be advised to use medication accurately.

【General care】

1. The patient has frequent urination at night and is easily tired during the day. Pay attention to maintaining a quiet and comfortable environment to facilitate the patient's rest.

2. Always keep warm water available near the patient.

3. Measure blood pressure, body temperature, pulse, respiration and weight regularly. To understand the changes in the condition.

【Health Guidance】

1. Since patients have frequent urination and polydipsia, they should be advised to keep plenty of warm water with them.

2. Pay attention to prevent infection, rest as much as possible and engage in appropriate activities.

3. Instruct patients to record changes in urine volume and body weight.

4. Follow the doctor's instructions for taking the medicine accurately and do not stop taking the medicine on your own.
